Fourth Floor Common Room, Sunday Morning

Viki, it must be said, had woken up very glad to still be unstung by her roommate--who was very nice after all, and terribly talented as a singer--but at the same time she was mildly out-of-sorts from several conversations yesterday though her mind shied away from remembering the details.

Who needed details? There had been talk, it had been uncomfortable, and figuring out how the lights worked in the common room just down the hall was far more interesting and important.

Flick on, flick off. Viki laughed as the lights did what she told them to with just a switch of knob. Wasn’t that exciting? Wasn’t that interesting?

If she’d been the wishing sort, Viki would’ve wished memories were more like that. As it was though, she had the lights, and the room, and that was enough to amuse her for now.

Flick on, flick off. How did memories work again...?

[Totally, totally open!]

Angela had every intention of doing town exploration today, cold out as it may be. Before she did that though, she wanted a drink at least.

She paused near the girl fiddling with the lights giving her a curious glance. "Are you okay?" It was a more subtle, sociable greeting than 'what are you doing?'.

Possibly on his way down to a workout or whatever else might crop up in the meantime, Cal figured it was kind of hard to not notice the lights flickering steadily on and off, on and off, in the common room. Considering this place and perhaps one or two too many bad, bad seventies horror flicks, a wise man might have kept walking on. Cal was apparently not very wise today, but it all worked out, considering that it turned out to just be a girl.

"New to lightswitches?" he guessed.

It was entirely possible around here, come on. And he would have thought they were pretty cool if he'd never seen them before, either. His fascination with different doors when they moved into Middlesex left him getting his head stuck in one, even.

Well, he called that one right. But at least lightswitches didn't have the threat of getting your head caught in them. Hopefully. He'd be impressed if she could manage that.

"Yup, lightswitches," he confirmed with a nod. He would reserve his judgment on whether or not they were exciting. He supposed they could be, though. "I take it you're new to here, too?"

There. Two new people within twenty four hours. That should shut Ino up a little.

In a theme of Jetlags-suck and not wanting to bother is roomie, Ichigo had decided to explore the dorms that morning. The whole lack of sleep thing left him grumpier than usual when he wandered up to the 4th floor and found someone playing with the lights.

"Are you trying to give yourself a headache or something?" he asked the girl.

"I think she's trying to see if you can give yourself a seizure if you do it fast enough." And now Ichigo was wondering if that was possible. His father ran a clinic, technically he should probably know this.

Either he was getting used to Fandom or he was simply too tired to marvel the weirdness of it all. "Does that mean you're from the past?"

"It's wiring," Cal explained, "in the walls." He gestured to indicate those said walls. "Electricity. Do they have that where you're from?"

[identity profile] first-guardian.livejournal.com 2008-07-06 03:13 pm (UTC)(link)
"How can you not know where you're from? It's got to at least have a name," Ichigo pointed out. "What's it like then?"

[identity profile] first-guardian.livejournal.com 2008-07-06 03:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh look, a couch. Ichigo plopped down in it, immediately getting comfortable and stretching his legs out in front of him. "So you've got amnesia or something? Or did you just move when you were really young?"

Angela shrugged. "I don't know, just lots of this--" She made some vague 'lightswitch' gestures.

If she didn't remember? Cal's head tilted slightly; did this girl have a memory problem? That would be...awful and blissful all at once.

"Yeah," he said, "but there's always got to be something behind the wall, isn't here? The wires are between the walls, and they carry something called electricity through them, that makes the lights go on and the TV and the refrigerator running. And the switch there, when you flick it, it completes a current to turn the light on."

Go, fourth grade science project!

"That sucks," Ichigo decided, stifling a yawn and he absently scratched his chest. "But you've got to come from a world, where they don't have light switches at least?

[identity profile] flashesforinfo.livejournal.com 2008-07-06 03:24 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah," Angela said slowly, a little smile pulling at her lips. "Hopefully she stops before it gets to that point..."

"I hope so because I don't know where the clinic is yet and it'd suck a lot getting lost while carrying someone around," he mused, sounding pretty calm about it.

"Hi, I'm Ichigo, by the way."
