Around the dorms, Tuesday evening

Since it wasn't a party without guests, Blair went around the dorms to hang up posters which read:

COLD AS ICE PARTY
FRIDAY, JULY 11, AFTER SUNSET
DRESS WARM BUT LOOK COOL

It was a shame she didn't know all of the students well enough to give more specific invitations and thus avoid the losers, but she figured the VIP area would make up for that. Which reminded her that she needed to track down John.

But first, hanging the posters up.

God she missed having a freshman to do this for her.

It was getting late, and the polar bear still had many bottles of ribbon branded cola drink to give out. Luckily there was a person right there in the hallway of this very warm building, and it padded towards her.

Surely she would like some delicious, delicious ribbon branded cola drink?

This would be Blair staring.

"...the hell?"

It flattened its ears, looked around as if not sure this was a good idea, then pulled a bottle of ribbon branded cola drink from nowhere and offered it to her.

Blair really didn't want to know where the soda had come from. But the bear was offering a gift and not attempting to maul her, so she figured she could play along.

"For me?"

It nodded enthusiastically and held it closer, looking pathetically hopeful.

One probably shouldn't look a gift bear in the mouth but Blair was Blair. "Is it diet?"

The bear scuffed a paw on the ground, because it most definitely wasn't anything even remotely resembling diet, then shook its head sadly.

Awh. Well it was cute. "That's okay," Blair assured the bear. "Regular is fine."

It bounced on its front paw with glee and gave a very happy bear headshake, then set the bottle on the floor in front of her, looking up expectantly.

Blair approached cautiously - it was still a bear after all - and picked up the bottle. "Thank you."

Then a thought occured to her. She knew this was a long shot but hey, no harm in trying right?

"Would you like to come to a party?" she asked. She gestured at the poster, because it was entirely possible that the bear could read.

"Parties already?" Angela looked quite impressed. "I like the way this place works."

The bear squinted at the poster, giving it a good try, but bears - even adorable ribbon branded cola drink pushing bears - sadly couldn't read.

It cocked its head, puzzled, then pointed its nose at the bottle in Blair's hand insistently.

Ooo - new person. Blair looked her over, reserving judgement until she found out more about her.

"We've been shamefully lacking in them," Blair agreed. "I'm hoping to fix that. I'm Blair Waldorf, by the way."

Okay, she could drink. It had less calories than alcohol after all. She took a sip, just to show the bear she was drinking, then said, "There's a party this Friday. After sunset. You're welcome to come if you'd like."

Because they would plotz back home if they found out Blair had managed to get a polar bear for a party.

It did a little, clomping, polar dance of glee, then squinted at the poster again. If it memorised what it looked like, maybe it could find a penguin to translate.

Then it turned and padded away.

"Feel free to bring friends!" Blair called after it. "Provided they don't maim anyone!"

Blair thought about it, then added, "Or if that's a requirement let me know and we can make arrangements."

One had to be a good hostess after all.

"Angela Montenegro," she introduced, a friendly smile pulling at her lips. "It's good to know low party numbers are being countered. Would be a shame to be without the entertainment."

"Where I'm from I'm used to a party every week," Blair said. "Fandom's been severely lacking in that area. Though it is making up for it with the chance for a theme. Nobody's having an Antartic party back home - not a real one."

"Making the most of the authentic freezing cold in the name of a good time." Angela shook her head with a grin. "Guess someone needs be able work that out."

"There are plenty of warm clothes that are also fashionable," Blair pointed out. "Besides, there'll be refreshments to help with the warm feeling."

Blair figured that was an easy way of seeing if Angela had a problem with parties that had alcohol.

Katchoo caught sight of someone hanging posters, and out of curiosity had to drift over and take a look at one of them.

High school parties. She snorted; most kids her age had no idea what a really crazy party was like. And she kind of wished she didn't, either.

Blair caught the snort. "Problem?" she asked, sweetly.

"About the first thing I did when I figured out how cold it was, check on the availability of layers," Angela said with a wry little nod. "I came dressed for heatwave, and found this."

She grinned again at the part about refreshments, "Sounds like warmth won't end up at that big a problem."

Katchoo looked at Blair for a moment, sizing her up. It wasn't a long moment.

"Nah," she rasped finally. "Not mine, anyway."

Liar.

"Not at one of my parties," Blair said. "It's my job to make sure everyone enjoys themselves."

Well, the right people anyway. Kicking out the losers was part of making sure the right people could enjoy the party.
