Fifth Floor Common Room - Friday Afternoon

Lois was flipping through the channels in the common room when she found a Golden Girls marathon on TV. Sure, the circumstances of why it was on were sad but, hey, Golden Girls rocked no matter the reason it was on. She made some popcorn and grabbed a soda and sprawled out on the couch. She was in for the long haul.

[Ooooopen]

"Why are there old women on the television?" Hannibal wondered from where he was slouching in the doorway.

"I never watched," he admitted, shrugging. "Not something I could go to school and admit to my friends who were buzzing about the latest thing that exploded."

"I don't put sassy and old lady in the same sentence," he said, paying closer attention to the tv. "What makes them sassy?"

"Ah." Yeah, he still didn't get it but he could try. "I trust your judgment. I'll give these...Golden Girls a second chance."

First chance.

"Spending a lazy weekend inside, then?"

Considering that the work they'd moved onto for the community project was a little out of Turtle's league, she decided to go ahead and call it quits early and not stick around for the afternoon. She dragged herself tiredly up the stairs, and passed the common room, decided to get a soda, and shuffled tiredly in. She blinked at the TV.

"Ooh," she muttered without much enthusiasm. "Cranky old ladies."

"You and me both," he muttered. "You should definitely go to the beach."

Turtle opened her mouth to argue that, but then thought better of it; soda in hand, she ceremoniously plopped on the sofa and sighed, glad for the relaxation. "Minute difference," Turtle allowed. "They do it with class, so, yeah, sassy's a better word."

Hannibal, friendly as he ever was (and he was!), waved at the new arrival.

"Of course not," he said, feigning offense even though she was right. "A little sun can be good for the skin. I'm only looking out for your health."

Load of bull.

"I'm conscientious."

With a bright, but still tired, smile and a wave back, Turtle said, with a fair bit of confidence, "Hi! I don't think I've met you yet." And she'll kill her mun for stupidity if she has. Which, of course, meant immediately offering her hand. "Turtle Wexler, soon-to-be junior. Nice too meet you.'

"Oh, I know I'll be like that when I'm old," Turtle said with an unwavering confidence. "There's no way I couldn't be."

"Hannibal King," he said, taking the offered hand of the person the mun was almost positive he hadn't met and smiling. "Turtle's an odd name."

Best get that out of the way early. Of course, he really couldn't talk.

"Think so?" He looked at his arms critically. "I should go to the beach too?"

[identity profile] stocksgrrl.livejournal.com 2008-07-25 07:00 pm (UTC)(link)
"Hannibal's not exactly on the same level as Bob and Joe, either," Turtle pointed out with a grin back. "It's a nickname. And, believe me, it's better than what my real name is, and, no, I won't tell you what my real name is."

Best get that out of the way, too.

"Where are you from, Hannibal?" It was a weird name, but at least she'd remembered saying it on radio before, so it wasn't that bizarre. And around here, you got used to weird names real quick.

"Well," Turtle added, "I intend to be pretty wealthy." Intend. Ha! She already was, but Lois didn't need to know that. "Wealthy old ladies are never sweet. And I want to still be all savvy and feared, maintaining the reputation I will gain in my career as a ruthlessly brilliant lawyer." She concluded with a firm, yet dreamy nod.

"Earth," he decided to say to square that way. "No space or alternate universes or underground for me. Just a boy from a city. Nowhere special. We have coffee shops and cheeseburgers and things like that."
