Curious Chicklet Campfire - Sunday Late Morning

Ichigo was bored. Bored enough to attempt to make coffee over the campfire. He was going to blame Tyler's classes even if they hadn't learned how to do this. It did smell like coffee, if you asked Ichigo. It certainly tasted like it. Perhaps a little too much as it was very, very strong coffee. Maybe it needed some milk or sugar, but that required getting up and Ichigo was comfortable.

Sort of comfortable as Ichigo was engaged in a staring contest with the cricket sitting only an inch away from his foot. Ichigo wasn't all too bothered by bugs, but he did reach up to scratch the back of his neck for some reason.

Angela was definitely not a fan of the creepy critters, and having discovered several seriously overgrown bugs in her cabin campfire, she went in search of someone else's to hang out near.

"This island is trying to kill us," she said to Ichigo as she cautiously made her way over.

Ichigo glanced up, nursing his coffee mug and he grinned a little at Angela's expression. "So far I've more felt grossed out than in danger of my life," he admitted.

"This big," Angela said spreading her hands like she was holding a small balloon. "How can mutant creepy crawlies like that not be poisonous in some way?"

Maybe Ichigo had just been lucky in the variety of bugs he'd walked in to. There was a slim chance that playing something close to grim reaper had skewed up his vision of life threatening situations however.

"Point," he relented. "Just keep in mind that they're supposedly more afraid of us than we from them?" He somehow didn't think Angela was going to buy that.

Yeah. Not so much. Angela shuddered slightly and nodded to the fire.

"Mind if I join you?" So much better to be near someone who obviously wasn't bugged by the eight legged creeps.

"Course not." And maybe he read her mind as he continued; "I'll even squish anything offending."

"Knight in shining armour," Angela declared, giving a log near the fire a good examine before considering sitting down there.

"I have two younger sisters," he replied. "I'm used to bug killing." He watched her with some amusement check out the log, but didn't comment.

"I can offer you some coffee, but I'm not sure how drinkable it is. I think I overdid it."

Angela sniffed carefully. If she could smell it from a few feet away... "Strong," she remarked.

"I'll pass," she continued. "Think I'm awake enough just from dodging my way over here."

He still drank from his mug, mostly because he didn't want to just waste it. "Hey, at least you don't need to go out to exercise anymore."

"One thing to be fortunate for," Angela said with a little laugh as she sat down. The log had finally been deemed mutant bug free.

"And a million little ones not to be."

"So I suppose this is the wrong time to ask you how you've been surviving Fandom?" he asked. He glanced down at the ground, realising the cricket was gone. It must have gotten bored and Ichigo very slowly lifted his foot. Just to make sure.

"Until today, I was surviving pretty well," Angela said. "I live in a place where rum runs from the taps and we get a new holiday destination every few weeks."

"If you say it like that, it sounds too good to be true," Ichigo grinned and he put his foot down, not seeing a cricket clinging to his pants. "I suppose it was only a matter of time for the other side to prop up."

"Suppose," Angela agreed. "One of the hazards of world travel."

"Mmmmm. Gloomy on Sunday morning," Ichigo considered his cup for a moment before he shook his head and placed it down on the ground beside him. "It sounds like you're less ready to declare the whole island insane," he observed.

"Can't really declare other people insane once you've seen it for yourself," Angela said simply. "Otherwise, I'd probably still be trying."

Ichigo chuckled and nodded, he still felt like blaming Kisuke for this, even if he'd long since realised that the man had nothing to do with this. Apparently restless this morning, he shifted forward, picking up a stick to poke at the fire. "You'll be staying on when the academic years starts?" he asked.

"I think so," Angela replied. "I haven't really talked to my dad about it all yet." The trials of having a parent who worked a lot and rarely seemed to be around when you called.

"You?"

"My dad's all for it," Ichigo replied, but as far as he was concerned there were other forces who had more of a say than his father. "It's October now where I live, I actually came here to start the new school year."

"Weird." Angela declared. Like it was any stranger than anything else that went on around here.

"Where is it you're from?" she asked.

"Karakura Town in Japan," he replied, not looking very much like he was from Japan at all. "Two months in the far future."

Angela gestured at herself. "Fourteen years in the distant past," she told him in return. "Fun with time displacement."

"So there might be an Angela around in my world who is..." he paused, not sure how old she was exactly. "30ish?"

"Might be," Angela confirmed. She then pulled a face, "That's never gonna stop being a creepy thought."
