Tiniest Penguin Campfire [Monday Evening]

With the island in yet another new place and the gross bugs gone, Ned felt safe enough to venture outside with Kaylee, who was still a raccoon. She seemed to like the outdoors better anyway (and that was probably due to being cooped up for so long) because as soon as he let her down near the campfire, she found a broken stick and started to try and repair it.

This meant grass stalks, another stick as a splint and some odds and ends to get the grass to stick.

"Can you build me a radio out of sticks and grass?" Ned asked, infinitely amused. He made sure to bracket her inside one leg to keep a barrier up between her and the fire.

In response to his question, she butted her head against his leg. He took that as a no.

[Ooooopen, yes. I had a BAD morning filled with a car not starting so I am escaping into the game now.]

Look, she hadn't got a project for like DAYS and all she'd done as a raccoon was run around. So yeah, stick fixing seemed like a plan.

She skittered off for a moment to snag a little flower, grateful for her tiny little clever paws, and ran back to add it to her...repaired stick.

She chittered up at Ned, getting slightly bored of her stick, and attempted to climb up his leg again.

She considered, and made a little raccoon noise in response.

It was raccoon-speak for "Yes, but only when climbing your legs because I'm a raccoon," but it wasn't as articulate as she'd have liked. Or, you know, words.

She looked shocked at that. She didn't think her raccoon hair looked bad.

So yeah, those would be self-conscious little raccoon paws going up to check her fur.

Kaylee tried to explain, via little noises and some interesting miming, that it was the most comfortable there. Also, he was a lot bigger when she was this little and she was worried she might get trapped under his arm or something if she slept somewhere else.

Kaylee tried to look offended. Mostly she looked like a raccoon. She made up for it by trying to urge his arm to where she could reach to climb up on his shoulder.

She happily skittered up his arm, and set to work messing with his hair.

It was a pastime. And one of the few ways she could be vaguely affectionate like she normally would, so.

She chittered a negative and set to meticulously making his hair stick up, and then smoothing it all back down again.

She was carefully avoiding his ears. That would be weird.

She patted his head reassuringly, attempting to convey that she very much liked his hair and all about him, as he was, in fact, adorable.

She sighed a wee raccoon sigh, snuggling against his neck. Hopefully she'd change back soon. Not while she was on his shoulder, though.

She shook her head again, curling up a little, and reached out to poke his cheek with her paw.

She poked his temple instead, then.

Kaylee looked as innocent as possible.

She thought the effect was probably quite adorable.

She made a high-pitched little noise and squirmed around, then skittered down his arm and hopped off his lap, and retrieved her stick, with flower now attached, and offered it up to him, still trying to look cute.
