Main Campfire - Tuesday After Classes

Just because Chuck hated making food for himself, it didn't mean that he couldn't do it when times were desperate. S'mores were a meal, right? They better be because Chuck didn't really have the equipment or the will power to try to make anything else. He jacked the ingredients to make them from his cabin's kitchen and headed down to the main campfire since, from what he had seen, it always seemed to be lit. Chuck couldn't start a fire on his own unless you were talking about flipping switch on the fireplace.

Chuck laid down a blanket on a log (as if he was going to get his pants dirty) and sat down. He took a couple moments to light a joint he rolled before shoving a marshmallow on a stick and sticking it in the fire. He could so totally survive in the woods on his own. He just hoped he'd never have to.

"Oooh, s'mores," said Hoshi, grabbing a log of her own. "Mind if I grab one?"

"Thanks," said Hoshi. She frowned at the sight of the joint. "Don't tell me you're a smoker, too. Don't you know what cigarette smoke does to your body?"

"Well, just remember that those things are addictive," warned Hoshi as she added her marshmallow to the fire.

Then, thinking about it a little more, she added, "Sorry to be such a nag about it. No one smokes anymore where I come from."

"Kyoto, but actually, when I'm from is a bit more important," she said. "I'm from the mid-22nd century, about 140 years from now."

"Actually, they don't seem to think time travel exists in my future, so I'm something of an anomaly," said Hoshi. "I've met people here who are from further out in time, though, so who knows? Maybe eventually they find a way to do it. So far, I've found that most of the time if I just cross the causeway, I'll end up back in my time."

"Well, it can still get complicated," said Hoshi. "For example, where I come from, there was a major world war in the late '90s, but that hasn't happened yet in this world. So I'm not sure if I'm just from an alternate Earth or what."

"Tell me about it," said Hoshi, pulling her marshmallow out of the fire and checking to see if it was done. "I found that everything was a lot easier once I stopped worrying about it. Plus, having the extra time and space away from my mother is great."

Hoshi smirked. "Well, to start with, my mother hates aliens. Oh, and she wants me to become a concert pianist instead of a communications specialist," she said.

"Well, it's been ages since I've touched a piano, but I've learned a ton of new languages since arriving in Fandom, including a few alien ones," said Hoshi.

"Definitely, as long as it doesn't hurt others," agreed Hoshi. "I think I'd make more of an impact as a translator than a piano player."

"Exactly!" said Hoshi. "I have no idea what my mother's thinking sometimes. It's almost like she's the one stuck in the wrong century."

"It probably depends on which adults you're talking about. I've met some who don't really care, and then there are others who really worry over what kind of messes we get into," explained Hoshi. "Who do you have for workshops this term?"

"I haven't had any of them, although I know Deadpool and Tink by reputation," said Hoshi. "They probably wouldn't interfere that much with the students. On the other hand, I got a lecture and extra homework from Professor Kerrigan because I missed a workshop."
