Cuddly Wuggly Bunny Campfire; Tuesday Afternoon.

It settled onto Cal's realization slowly that he actually didn't have play rehearsal today, leaving a wide open day where he didn't really have anything to do at all. He considered going and working out a little more, but he'd slept in for one thing, and he thought it might be a good idea to be easy on its body, since it still felt like it was getting used to not being a hyena anymore. So he thought he would just go out and enjoy the fair, sunny day outside the cabin. He had a seat on the ground, leaning against a log, with a book to read.

After about twenty some odd pages, though, the book ceased to really hold Cal's attention, and what started out as a relaxing reading day turned into a relaxing bout of just watching the clouds drifting in the sky. He actually found himself surprisingly fascinated with them, because they were real clouds, untouched by a dreary, pale-colored sheen of factory smoke and smog like the skies over Detroit. Blue, blue skies, and white clouds without a faint touch of pink.

[[ open as campfires are wont to be! ]]

Worf returned from a handwavy exploration of the new portion of the island that had appeared recently. He nodded at Cal as he approached the campfire.

"Good day," he said gruffly. "No gym today?"

She peered down at him, then up at the sky.

"Something interesting?" Viki asked, tilting her head as she tried to puzzle it out.

[identity profile] blinkandsneeze.livejournal.com 2008-08-19 03:31 pm (UTC)(link)
"Hello! People are no longer losing their way around," Viki told her brother. "I rather found it entertaining, and will miss it."

[identity profile] blinkandsneeze.livejournal.com 2008-08-19 03:37 pm (UTC)(link)
"They look like clouds, I suppose," she said amicably. "And I shouldn't think that they'd be put out by your staring, so I suppose it doesn't matter excepting the why?"

[identity profile] blinkandsneeze.livejournal.com 2008-08-19 03:52 pm (UTC)(link)
"It's not like we could tell either way," she conceded. "So you very likely haven't been noticed. But at the same time it is not as if they have eyes as we recognize them so it would be hard to be definitively sure."

[identity profile] sonofmogh.livejournal.com 2008-08-19 03:56 pm (UTC)(link)
"Why?" Worf said looking at the sky. "Do you think it will rain?"

[identity profile] sonofmogh.livejournal.com 2008-08-19 03:57 pm (UTC)(link)
"I will not," Worf said nodding at Viki. "I prefer that my starting point and destination not have any... detours."

[identity profile] blinkandsneeze.livejournal.com 2008-08-19 04:02 pm (UTC)(link)
"Some people say that life is all about the journey, rather than the destination," she said, smiling. "I find this, at least, a reasonable thing to believe in when you cannot control your destination."

[identity profile] blinkandsneeze.livejournal.com 2008-08-19 04:03 pm (UTC)(link)
"It's possible," she agreed, grinning back. "But then, really, so is anything. Who can tell?"

[identity profile] sonofmogh.livejournal.com 2008-08-19 04:05 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm sure the person who said that never lived here," Worf said wryly.

[identity profile] blinkandsneeze.livejournal.com 2008-08-19 04:10 pm (UTC)(link)
"I do not find it all so unusual here," she admitted. "But then, neither did I find getting lost to be out of the ordinary. Is it different where you are from?"

[identity profile] blinkandsneeze.livejournal.com 2008-08-19 04:19 pm (UTC)(link)
"Why?" Viki asked curiously. "Not the looking, for that's obvious, but why is it the only thing you're supposed to do? Who said?"

[identity profile] sonofmogh.livejournal.com 2008-08-19 04:27 pm (UTC)(link)
"I see," Worf replied even though he did not really see at all. "I'm sure the clouds are very... pretty."

[identity profile] sonofmogh.livejournal.com 2008-08-19 04:28 pm (UTC)(link)
"Very much so," Worf replied. "It's a couple of centuries in the future and there is less... oddities."

[identity profile] blinkandsneeze.livejournal.com 2008-08-19 04:31 pm (UTC)(link)
"Why wouldn't you want to do anything else?" she teased him, smiling. "Who knows why anyone does what they do?"

[identity profile] blinkandsneeze.livejournal.com 2008-08-19 04:32 pm (UTC)(link)
"I almost think that that would be rather sad," Viki said, musing on it. "After all, how someone reacts to things can say a lot about them and without oddities to get used to people are more likely to not be used to them and react badly, I should think. I wouldn't claim to know."

[identity profile] sonofmogh.livejournal.com 2008-08-19 04:44 pm (UTC)(link)
"The meditative process is to help find a balance between the mind and the body," Worf declared. "While it may be helpful for you I do not see it being beneficial to me."

[identity profile] sonofmogh.livejournal.com 2008-08-19 04:45 pm (UTC)(link)
"I am not sad," Worf declared. "And while exploration and discovery is an admirable trait I prefer it to be more organized."

[identity profile] blinkandsneeze.livejournal.com 2008-08-19 04:59 pm (UTC)(link)
"I never said you were," Viki said mildly. "Just that the idea of things being less odd seemed rather sad to me. Do you think people learn more when they are organized?"

[identity profile] blinkandsneeze.livejournal.com 2008-08-19 05:05 pm (UTC)(link)
"People do, generally, have some small idea of what they are doing," Viki admitted. "But saying that you know what someone else is doing can be a more difficult thing."

[identity profile] sonofmogh.livejournal.com 2008-08-19 05:06 pm (UTC)(link)
"I learn when things are more organized," Worf replied. "That is all. Others may learn as they wish."

[identity profile] blinkandsneeze.livejournal.com 2008-08-19 05:11 pm (UTC)(link)
"Do you learn anything different when it's not?"

[identity profile] sonofmogh.livejournal.com 2008-08-19 05:14 pm (UTC)(link)
"It is a preference. Only that."

[identity profile] blinkandsneeze.livejournal.com 2008-08-19 05:16 pm (UTC)(link)
"Everything is, in the end, I find."

[identity profile] sonofmogh.livejournal.com 2008-08-19 05:20 pm (UTC)(link)
"I am fine," Worf replied. "I went to assess the new portion of the island. I still don't understand how the island can just... grow."

[identity profile] blinkandsneeze.livejournal.com 2008-08-19 05:39 pm (UTC)(link)
"It was certainly implied," she said earnestly. "Though really, I suppose I could be mistaken, it's always possible."

[identity profile] blinkandsneeze.livejournal.com 2008-08-19 06:58 pm (UTC)(link)
She shrugged mildly.

"People do," Viki said placidly. "And will continue to do so, who can tell if it would ever stop? And who is to say that doing so is entirely wrong as well?"

[identity profile] blinkandsneeze.livejournal.com 2008-08-19 07:35 pm (UTC)(link)
"That is my name, yes?"

[identity profile] blinkandsneeze.livejournal.com 2008-08-19 07:46 pm (UTC)(link)
That got a bit of a shrug.

"It's not a bad thing, I wouldn't say, though not for certain because it could be, really."

That was a no, not really.

[identity profile] blinkandsneeze.livejournal.com 2008-08-19 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
"Even a circle gets somewhere eventually," she said lightly. "Look at wheels, for instance."

[identity profile] blinkandsneeze.livejournal.com 2008-08-19 08:26 pm (UTC)(link)
She just shrugged a bit. Being ignored was not particularly a new thing either and she didn't really mind anyway.
