Third floor common room, Wednesday Morning

In this weather Leto was thankful for the hooded cloak, made for cold desert nights, that he had brought with him. Apart from that, he didn't mind the weather - he remembered snow of course, but he hadn't actually experienced it, and now he had made himself comfortable on the common room couch, looking out the window and letting the fireplace and a large cup of spice coffee warm him.

In front of him was a chess board and he moved the pieces quickly, playing both sides. He missed Ghani, but when she wasn't here he could at least try to emulate one of her games.

Dinah had no classes, and thus no reason to have to get up until she absolutely had to... but she was awake anyway, and considering going down to the gym for a work-out, partly to keep warm. Breakfast first, though. She stumbled down the hall, bundled up in layers and slippers, and started rummaging for snacks in the kitchen without looking around.

She'll notice Leto and the fireplace in a minute. Really.

Dinah jumped and whirled, eyes widening, then smiled happily, if very sleepily. "Leto! Morning." She shivered, rubbing her arms, and then stared at the fireplace. "Um. Okay. How...?"

Grabbing a few granola bars out of the cabinet, Dinah shuffled over to the couch and sat down, still blinking at the fireplace in puzzlement before shaking her head. "Just when I'm sure the whole point of the magic here it to make us adjust or challenge everything we know, it does something nice." She smiled, unwrapping one granola bar. "He probably will. But, I mean. It's still a good thing. How much can he object?"

Dinah giggled at that comment on Arthur, taking a bite of her granola and chewing. "He needs to lighten up. A lot." She peered back at Leto, hoping any blushing on her part would be taken as a reaction to the fire's heat. "Cool cloak. I didn't think you'd be ready for this kind of weather."

"You should! Do you have gloves? I can lend you some." And could I sound a little more like someone's mom? "I was out there yesterday, when it wasn't so bad." She grinned widely at the memory. "Jamie was going crazy and running around without his shirt, trying to start a dessert revolution."

"I would if I could. Jamie's... Uh, I don't know about him. He's my Fandom Big Sibling. I'm pretty sure he's crazy. But fun crazy." Dinah didn't feel so dumb for mentioning the gloves now. She turned a little pinker remembering the other part of Jamie's craziness. "He and all his zillion duplicates were telling people to show their support by taking off their shirts, and how their passion for desserts would keep them warm. I kind of felt bad that I was too chicken to do it."

"Maybe you had to be there?" Dinah looked sheepish. "He's the one asked if he could film, uh. My Health class, too." Which made her turn redder and hurriedly say, "I wonder when the power will come back on?" She held her toes out to the fire, and said, "Maybe the fireplace is a sign it won't be too soon?"

Which made Dinah roll her eyes, another blush working its way up her face as she poked Leto's foot with one toe. "Good things all these random blankets showed up, hunh?" And she so hadn't meant that the way it sounded. "Ahem. Anyway! I was going to go to the gym. If there's enough light there to work out by."

Dinah resisted the urge to fidget, move away or toward Leto, and concentrated on being normal. Not easy. "I've got a huge bash-your-head-in flashlight. I figured that would work." Annnd the urge to wriggle couldn't quite be suppressed as she said, "You could come with. If it wouldn't be boring for you."

"I don't know. Some people don't like gym work-outs. Think they're boring." She gave him a hopeful look. "You don't?"

"Punching a bag and sparring, or doing weight lifting, instead of just playing a sport." She brightened at his mention of physical training and sat up straighter. "What kind training do you do?"

Dinah completely lit up at the invitation, bouncing on the couch and nearly out of her seat. "Sure! That would be great!" She took a breath, still smiling, and said, "I've been studying hand-to-hand for about a year now. And eskrima stick fighting. I haven't found anyone to fight here yet."

"Exactly!" She froze for a second as he pulled the blanket up, then relaxed again. Normal for him, right? A Fremen thing. Yup. Do not get unnerved or flustered. She was fairly proud of herself for managing a small smile at him. "Thanks."
