Second Floor Common Room, Wednesday Evening

Tony had his popcorn and pop and was settled into the couch in the second floor common room. Tonight's episode had Raymond Dark facing off with a mummy he'd defeated but not destroyed in 1938. It seems the Nazis had put the mummy in storage under protective glyphs, but it had been sold to a collector who, of course, had to go and pop the coffin open to see what was inside.

Dinah came in looking way too pleased with herself, and flopped down on the couch next to Tony. "Mummy?"

Dinah shuddered. "Now I have that Mister What episode in my head. Euuurgh." She grabbed a pillow, gave him a threatening look, then shoved it behind her head. "Besides, I was sure you were the new babysitter."

Fizzy sweet drink and chips acquired, Firekeeper settled in her usual spot on the couch with Blind Seer.

She smiled at Tony, sternly reminding herself that sorcery or not, he was still her friend.

"Hello," she said, and then moved right into: "what is?" gesturing at the... creature wrapped in bandages on the screen.

"Like zombie?" Those she knew of, at least!

"They were pretty good," Dinah agreed, licking her lips at the memory. "I bounced around the Preserve for the rest of the day like a mini-tornado, but they were yuuuummy." She shook her head and reached for the popcorn. "I deserved to be so sick on Monday. I lucked out that I wasn't. Ooo, dead guy," she said, pointing at the screen.

"Hey, Blysse. Hey, Blind Seer." Dinah grinned at them, especially Blind Seer. "Recovered from eating bologna and preservatives?" she asked him.

[identity profile] kestrelswolf.livejournal.com 2009-03-19 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
"Dinah!" Firekeeper grinned.

Blind Seer gave something that could probably be interpreted as a shudder of disgust.

"He say, he not have much..." she frowned, trying to think of the words to say it, "knowing what foods is good and what merely fill the belly? When he was puppy."

Viki wandered in, tilting her head at the screen.

"I think," she said, "that that mummy is far too clean."

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-03-19 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
"I am so sorry," she told Blind Seer. "The little person I was had no more idea about nutrition than puppy-you did. Just that wolves ate meat. I think I owe you a decent hamburger." She grinned at Blysse. "I bought you a CD this afternoon when I was in Groovy Tunes. I'll bring it to class on Friday, or you can stop by and pick it up."

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-03-19 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
Dinah looked up, then grinned. "Hey, Viki. Yeah, I think they forgot to roll it around in dirt, or tear it, or do anything to make it look like anything but a guy wrapped up in Ace bandages. How was your weekend?"

[identity profile] kestrelswolf.livejournal.com 2009-03-19 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
"These is real, then? Like vampires?" She wondered how Derian's people, with their reverence for ancestors, would feel about this.

[identity profile] blinkandsneeze.livejournal.com 2009-03-19 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
She made a face. "They live in mines, back home," Viki explained, "and I've had to deal with them before. None of them have ever been so..."

Viki waved one hand. "Pristine."

"A CD?" she grinned, remembering Dinah's explanation of the technology. "Music? And he say, raw or least-cooked is best."

"Hello, Dinah! I successfully avoided all small children," she said cheerfully. "And avoided turning into one myself which I think might cause more headaches than it was worth."

Time travel was a bit of a pain that way. Ow.

"At the very least," she said, "the bandages ought to be more yellowish."

"Why too clean?" she had no idea how mummies worked, really.

Flight Club had cheered her up a bit, but Tahiri was still in a bit of a mood after Leadership class this morning and not really wanting to hole up in her room tonight.

And hey, it was Wednesday, so down to the second floor it was.

"It's that time again, isn't it?"

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-03-19 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah! You could play on the system in here, or on your roommate's computer, either one. I got you something with a lot of pipes and drums, it reminded me of you guys." She tilted her head at Blind Seer, then promised, "I'll get you some raw hamburger from one of the restaurants sometime. Not as much fun as hunting chocolate plants, but probably better for you."

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-03-19 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh, you were still a teenager? So was Tony," Dinah said, smiling. "He was a pretty good babysitter, but I don't blame you for avoiding all of us little sugar-crazed maniacs. It's a wonder the Island was still standing after that." She tilted her head at the screen. "More skeletony, too. He looks pretty well-fed for a thousands-year-old corpse."

[identity profile] kestrelswolf.livejournal.com 2009-03-19 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
"Is!" Firekeeper nodded. Such a conversationalist, really.
