The Dorms: Early Afternoon [4.5]

Their master had spoken, and the zombie horde obeyed. He demanded the fresh blood of Fandom's children as a sacrifice upon his altar, new minions to begin the invasion of the mainland, and so they would carry out his command.

No matter what.

From somewhere undefined a drum beat carried on the wind, and the zombies of Fandom marched forth, the dorms beckoning them like a beacon. Here there be brains, here there be blood, here there be flesh.

Here, there be prey.

[OOC: Up early for SP Awesome! Wait for the OCD or you'll wish the zombies got to you... OCD up! Defenders and zombies of all kinds, go forth!]

Arthur... was still at the barricade. He hadn't actually left, although he had grabbed a few hours of sleep once everything had settled in to his-- well, not his liking, but at least something he could live with. You couldn't fight in the morning without some rest and food.

It hadn't been much, though. With his crossbow now traded in for a shotgun (after some unpleasant conversation with Triela) he peered between the barricade. And...

Well. That's what he'd been worried about. He cast a look along the barricade, to anyone he might see. "It's time," he called, and pulled his helmet over his head. "Fight bravely; it's your homes at stake, we've no lack of strength and determination. We won't fail here."

...at least it was a brief motivating speech.

Once the alarm was sounded a strange menagerie of animals appeared on an odd looking contraption (http://www.comparestoreprices.co.uk/images/in/interplay-uk-ancient-fighting-machines--trebuchet.jpg) being dragged into position by a giant husky.

Who was wearing a hat. Don't ask.

A bunny hopped down from the contraption and starting waving his paws around at the animals as if directing them. He seemed to be the one in charge. And possibly over-caffeinated.

The mouse scurried around the contraption, pulling some string and rope here and there until the object appeared to be ready to use.

The Chihuahua on the other hand seemed to be glaring at the other animals as well as the contraption. He did not seem pleased about this at all.

The kitten seemed to be enjoying all of this immeasurably. He pounced on top of the chihuahua and began to smack the crap out of him.

Amazingly enough the chihuahua began to duplicate with each smack.

The husky then took the duplicated chihuahua and dropped it into the sling of the contraption and nodded at the bunny.

Well, this obviously wasn't working.

The zombies were simply too many. They'd have to back away and close the gates, especially considering the massive amount of scaling going on. Had we mentioned before how Arthur really wasn't fond of the odds?

"Stand back!" he ordered at the top of his voice, and ran for a... well, a flamethrower. There weren't a great deal of torches on hand. "Anyone with a flamethrower, focus your fire on the barricade! Close the gates when we're through!"

Fire and zombies - a very good combination for any occasion.

[[ for anyone who might want to help SET FIRE TO THE DORMS, yes ]]

The bunny looked out at the oncoming zombie horde and moved his arm down in an unmistakable gesture.

FIRE!

The mouse yanked back on the cord setting the contraption in motion.

And if anyone around just happened to speak dog? They would hear a lot of cursing coming from the yipping chihuahua as he was launched into the air and at the nearest Zombie

Now that their long range was pretty much shot but for the roof, Arthur had discarded his (empty) shotgun for his sword. That felt a great deal more natural, so it was with a grim, slightly predatory smile that he got to work.

Dinah had managed to get about five hours of sleep the night before, in between shifts at the North Gate. She was back again, more weapons and more supplies at hand, waiting. Last night's quick altercation with zombies, and her talk with Viki (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhighdorms/1611439.html?thread=133427631#t133427631) had left her as prepared as she could be.

We few, we happy few. Somewhere, Geoffrey was probably cackling what was left of his head off. We band of brothers....

When Savannah heard Arthur's command, she brought her flamethrower up and aimed at their barricade. This wasn't what she had hoped would happen, but she understood that it was the only chance they had to slow down the zombies until they could get to higher ground again.

She bit her lip and lit up at the barricade.

Brief was good. And she wasn't going to break down or anything when it was short, that would be stupid. Dinah picked up her pack to head for the other Gate. "I talked to someone about joining up. Hopefully she'll be here, and come explain." If Viki flaked out, there was no way Dinah was getting Arthur's hopes up. "See you when it's over."

"See you when it's over," he agreed. Then gave a pause: "Dinah."

"Yeah?" Time to go, time to go, really not sure she wanted to hear this....

Gwynn wanted up onto that roof. There were brains up there.

Of course, it was had to get up there and hold her arm on.

He just offered her the one hand he didn't have on the rifle.

Right, no breaking down. Dinah reached for his hand and squeezed it hard. No words. And it wasn't like she could say anything anyway, not with her throat that tight. She flashed him a quick, totally confident-this-would-be-fine smile, and shouldered her pack. "Later, Coach."

She only looked back once, and he was already giving orders to someone else. Totally fine.
