Behind the Dorms, Tuesday Afternoon

They'd made the call on radio last week. Arthur had gained permission from the Lady of the Castle. Now, there was the mere hope that people were actually interested. Arthur stood by the dorm walls, leaning his back gently against it. He was trying to keep the pressure off of his bandage. He considered both of his compatriots with an idle glance. "So," he said. "With any luck, this won't be long."

"Eh, they can take all the time they want," Reno mused, idly patting down his pockets to see if he'd brought his smokes. He hadn't. "It ain't like I'm goin' anywhere anytime too soon, yo. It'll probably take a while to whip people here into shape, anyhow."

"You're telling me," Arthur said, dryly. It didn't keep him from tossing the occasional watchful, antsy glance 'round the corner to see if anyone was coming. He was a little out of his depth here.

"Won't be all that bad, yo." Reno gave up on hunting down the smokes altogether. "If they don't listen, just kick 'em harder'n they can kick you, and it'll all fall into place."

"Oh, I'm not worried about that," Arthur replied. He had enough confidence in that department. Except not really, but it wouldn't help any of them if he voiced that. "Merely about numbers." Odds were always on his mind around here.

"If only three people show up," Reno decided, "that's just when you kick 'em harder still. Make it count."

Well, Arthur supposed he could live with that.

[[ wee ocd coming up. feel free to just stop by and talk shop with the guys; commitment-free non-club ahoy! ]]

Gwynn had heard about this, so there was no way she wasn't showing up. She figured that an extra sword or an extra bow wouldn't always be a weapon of choice, so she was here to see what other tips she could pick up.

In truth, for anyone but Arthur and Reno, Romeo wouldn't have bothered showing up; not only was he leaving the island rather soon, but he wasn't a soldier and he knew that perfectly well.

But it was Arthur and Reno, and he could at least do them the courtesy of coming to their event. (Besides, he had a letter he wanted to show Reno.) So there he was, standing back and watching until he had a better sense of what exactly he was expected to do.

Merlin was there as well. As though he would miss Arthur's newest bit of knight training. No matter what he was calling it, Merlin knew better.

Ino had, like, work and stuff to be at, but really this was too...

Hilarious? Or something? Riiiight, protect the island. Uh huh. But whatever, she said a mental apology to the flower shop and skipped out a wee bit early and showed up, looking rather, well, amused at the idea.

Protection was pretty much Ben's calling. Of course he'd be there.

It had nothing to do with the slight case of Arthur and Leto hero-worship he had.

Savannah had done a lot of thinking before showing up to this gathering. Johnny, most of her friends and the ones that she was supposed to go to when there was danger were leaving, and she had to be able to reassure them that she'd be okay the next year without them. She was confident in her abilities and she knew that they were, but in watching Arthur during the fight with the zombies, she figured that she could learn some good techniques from him.

"My name is Merlin," He began, ignoring any looks from Arthur. "Any normal fighting experience is from Arthur's training at hitting me with blunt swords--"

Ben gave him a tiny smile and an even smaller nod. "I'm Ben Skywalker. I'm a Jedi Knight--recently promoted--and I've just finished fighting a war back home. I prefer a lightsaber and close quarters combat, but I'm also trained on long-range sniper blasters."

Right, like Dinah wouldn't show up for this?

Dinah was doing a head-count as she looked around, frowning as she tried to see if everyone who'd been at the barricades was here today.

"Ino," she said, with a bit of a grin in Reno's direction, before directing her attention to--oh, hey, jerk from the picnic eons ago. Ha! "Two and a half years active experience, seven years of training. I'm not bad at hand-to-hand--either bare-handed, or what you'd probably call daggers--but I'm a lot better at espionage, infiltration, and sabotage."

She was a ninja, come on. She was also tiny. There were many reasons straight hand-to-hand generally wasn't her first thing.

"Dinah Lance." Great. State your resume in front of your fencing coach, your semi-crush, and the guy who saw you yak after harpy decapitations.

"I've been training as a fighter for a year and a half, mostly criminals and one-on-one when it comes to real life." She shifted nervously, looking around the group. Not exactly out of the closet, but close enough. But this was too important to keep secret. "And as a criminal investigator. Some forensics as well as surveillance." Gulp. "Weapons, um, guns for the last semester, as well as how to break them. Swords, same length of time. Sticks and staff for the last year or so."

Was she forgetting anything? "Oh, and I have telekinesis I'm training in. And, uh." Mention the telepathy, don't? "...that's pretty much it."

Oooh, more distractions. Tahiri could go for distractions, even if she did have a bunch of plans and ideas running through her head now thanks to her talk with Ino earlier.

Actually she'd been thinking of heading out to the preserve for a little bit when she saw the gathering, and wandered over out of curiosity but at any rate, there she was.

Merlin just shot him a bemused look. "Other sort of fighting I don't have too much practice at. But I've learned most of it rather quickly."

She tugged her hair. "Scouting too," Ino said lightly, "though my teachers have said before that I do better with an objective in mind. Excellent memory recall, if that's useful. I'm also pretty good with the teamwork thing, 'long as you don't expect me to get 'long with everyone once the mission is over," because so not happening, not even with her team at home, "and yeah. Behind enemy lines is kinda my family's specialty."

"Jedi traditionally work either alone or in pairs," Ben said helpfully. "There aren't so many of us that we like being bunched together for very long. And if you've managed to do something so wrong that you've attracted more than a pair of Jedi to deal with you, well..."
