Dorm Lobby, Friday Afternoon

Yeahno, unlike some people, Francine was not going out in that.

But even if they didn't have their support team organized quite yet, there was still stuff she could do besides hide. So she raided the bathrooms and common rooms for all the bandages, painkillers, hydrogen peroxide and general first aid kits she could find, and dragged them down to the lobby, setting them out on one of the coffee tables.

There were bottles of water as well, and a couple of batches of cookies. She kind of thought she should go for sandwiches too, but that'd mean staying upstairs to make them, and not leaving anybody down here to hand stuff out. So instead she grabbed a spot on one of the couches, flipped the tv to a Gelmoore Gals re-run -- anything that wasn't Giant Reptile Week: the Revenge, honestly -- and waited to see if anybody who'd been out there fighting wandered back in needing...stuff. Whatever that stuff might be.

Jack had done a quick check of his books after class to see if they had anything helpful to say (they didn't -- Jack wasn't exactly surprised) and was on his way to claim some kind of weapon and go out, but he paused in the lobby.

"Is this the infirmary?" he asked, looking at the table of supplies. They weren't all familiar, but he got the general gist of what they were.

Francine looked up and gave an uncertain smile. "Not exactly the clinic. But I figured it couldn't hurt to have some kind of patch-up station or just a place to come in and take a break."

[OOC: riiiight there with you as may be heading movie-ward after work.]

"Not at all," Jack agreed, looking things over to see if there was any obvious way to make himself useful. "Those things look like they would have a vicious bite. Has anyone been in yet?"

He remembered his manners enough for a smile, and added, "Francine, isn't it? We're in a class together."

The smile got less tentative. "You're one of the fifteen Jacks, right? Tony's Jack?"

That got a distinctly skeptical look, though one that was a little abashed by the girl's smile. "One of them, but I didn't know I was anyone's in particular," he said. (A lie, but close enough to the truth for these purposes.) "Tony's laid claim to me?"

He'd have to have a talk with Tony, if he had. That wasn't the kind of thing Jack ever relished.

"Oh, no!" Hi, foot. Omnomnomnomnom. One thing Francine was pretty much never oblivious to was her own awkwardness. "No, I just meant 'the Jack I know because I read about you and Tony on the radio.'"

Priestly wandered downstairs, took one look at Francine's set up, then wandered back upstairs.

And returned a few minutes later with a paper bag full of sandwich fixings -- nothing for hot sandwiches, of course, but he could still make a mean cold cut trio or something -- and a bag of chips he'd scavenged from one of the common rooms.

"I figured you could use something other than just deserts." He looked around again. "So, what's with the first aid party?"

"Oh wow, that's great, thanks!" Francine beamed. "And, well." Priestly was actually a good person to mention it to, she realized, even if they didn't have anything as concrete as a date for meeting yet. "We've been talking about putting together a group to help out when people go out and fight stuff. Not all of us can use a sword or magic or whatever, but that doesn't mean we can't do something."

"That's the thing with the drunken squirrels, isn't it?" Jack asked, because he'd picked up on precisely that much. "I haven't heard it or read it yet. I didn't know my dinner with Tony would be of any interest."

Poor, deluded, Victorian Jack.

"I think Dinah mentioned something like that. Sort of a Fandom High Triage or something, right?" Priestly set about slathering some mayo on a roll and wondering if he should have grabbed some thousand island while he was at it. "Can't say I love the whole Fandom Reserve thing, but first aid and morale and stuff, that I could get behind."

Shut up, he totally loved the USO.

Francine's eyes narrowed. "Drunken pervy squirrels." Which was her own bitchery, but pretty much answered Jack's question too.

"They're perverted?" Jack asked, genuinely surprised to hear a girl say that. Then again, he was surprised to hear a girl casually refer to him and Tony as a pair, too. Eventually, he'd get over being constantly surprised how much morals had changed, but "eventually" hadn't arrived yet.

"I'm not sure whether that makes me glad or sorry I don't listen."

"They sneaked into my boyfriend's room when we were--" Oh, right. Spying on people doing homework together wasn't much of an example of perversion. "--never mind. Let's just say they're creepy and leave it at that. But the radio's ... at least half right, sometimes. Plus my best friend reads the news, so I always listen on her nights."

Katchoo smelled a lot less like cigarettes and a hell of a lot more like gunpowder by the time she made it back to the dorm lobby.

Where there was water.

And Francine.

Oh, this could be awkward.

"Francie, what are you doing?" A question that, really, opened her up to questions and possibly some badgerfacing in return.

"I'd like it if there wasn't something constantly attacking us so people didn't have to go out and fight," Francine agreed, sort of, reaching for some chips. "But I'm glad we have people who can."

Turtle was fighting, of course. But Turtle needed a bit of a break from fighting.

"Do you know," she announced to no one in particular, as she sighed heavily, looking disheveled as she reached for a water bottle, "how small alligator shins are?"

"Playing Doctor?" Francine offered. Okay, even she wasn't blind to the innuendo there. "Not dirty. What've you been doing?"

"Yeah, but they did just fine fighting on the fly without being organized into a mob with specialized information, badly organized leadership, and no input from the masses they're supposed to be protecting."

It was possibly time to change the subject.

"Turkey or ham?"

"...Small?" Francine guessed, looking concerned. "Why were you aiming for their shins? And do you need anything besides water?"

"Can't say I've noticed." Priestly held out a ham and cheese on wheat. "Sandwich?"

It would probably have been more awkward if Francine understood half of what he'd just said. "Ham's good, thanks!" She shrugged. "I don't know anything about fighting or magic, but it makes sense to me that you'd want to practice and stuff, and plan for emergencies."

"I should figure out how it works even if it does have creepy squirrels," Jack decided. "Who's your boyfriend?"

Katchoo gave her a raised eyebrow that clearly meant No, the dirty was last night, wasn't it?

"Playing Crocodile Hunter. Does that mean I get a cookie?"

"Yeah, well, armies in general trip me out." Priestly was really very tempted to go into his whole 'what's to stop them from deciding that they have all the power so they should take over' spiel, but wisely decided against it. "Though admittedly the Reverse thing does sound pretty grassroots."

"It's my MO," Turtle explained with a shrug, and gave a dismissive wave of her hand. "Don't worry; I've got a gun, too. And water should be fine. Maybe something to eat. Just a little break to refuel and reload."

Yeah, she felt like a total bad-ass saying that.
