Behind the Dorms, Tuesday Afternoon

"Okay!" Zack grinned as he bounced to the forefront of today's reserves meeting, more than happy to be able to take the reins today.

It meant that he got to be all responsible, or something. He was game for the challenge!

"Today we're going to focus on familiarizing ourselves with weapons that we might have never considered using! Because, let's face it, sometimes the unspeakable happens and we get caught in a jam without anything readily at our disposal but what we can grab from nearby. Either someone else is down for the count and you make do with their weapon, or you end up swinging around whatever you can reach. Being able to improvise is just as important as being a master of your weapon of choice."

"A broomstick can be a staff," said Arthur, who had no experience with that kind of thing. At all. Really. "Any sharp object can be thrown. Anything with an edge can be used as a dagger or a sword, provided you know how to use one, and where to look. I assume you all have eyes."

"And that's why our pile-o-stuff today is more than just the practise weapons we've been using," Zack agreed, putting his hands on his hips and grinning at the people gathered. "If you look close enough, you'll be able to find pretty much anything from bags of marbles to the kitchen sink. Grab something you'd never think of using otherwise, pair up, and put those weapons to use!"

Zack, of course, was making a grab for that random beach umbrella, there.

Arthur, meanwhile, was going for the broom. For no reason. Really.

[Please wait for the OCD! OCD is up! This reserves meeting is officially in-session!]

Arthur knew nothing of using toasters for flails, but he did know a fair bit about what kind of innocent medieval implements you could use to kill people with. Kitchen, garden, and otherwise.

It was his way.

Like Arthur was going to miss out on this. He took his broom into the arena - well, the patch of grass - set it down on the floor, put his foot on the head and yanked the handle out. He gave it a good practice swing, then shot Zack a look.

"Well, then."

Fiona was there, of course, in better spirits than she'd been in for a couple of weeks.

...well, this felt just a bit silly, considering her talent.

She grabbed a jumprope eventually.

After crashing flight class, solid ground and more familiar topics were much of a relief for this particular pair of wolves.

"A--" He cast a look at the umbrella, "Whatever that is," he said, diplomatically, "Zack? I suppose you'll just have to try and kill me with it."

The broomstick got another happy twirl of beating thingz up tiemz nao before Arthur settled into a defensive stance.

Merlin was there, of course. Just standing a bit out of the way for this one. Fighting... was hardly his strong suit.

Well, Blind Seer had an advantage in that it would be near-impossible to separate him from his weapons. Firekeeper, however, had had her Fang taken away once- which was one too many times for her own comfort as far as she was concerned. So she picks out a package of kitchen utensils. Forks, spoons, butter knives... and a spatula.

Gabrielle was practically beaming. Two kinds of improvisation in two days, and this one she was actually good at!

Well providing it didn't involve things with sharp edges.

Ino bounced on her heels and tried to look as if she was paying attention. Really she was, but she definitely didn't look it, like, at all.

"Bringing it," Arthur assured him, smirking before he braced himself. He'd gone through a few bouts with Zack and his sword by now, so he anticipated appropriately, bringing his broomstick up hard to block off the beach umbrella.

He shoved it forward, then took a quick swing at Zack's knees in a rapid kind of succession. This was just fun.

I would so use a hula hoop if Gab had gone through that episode yet.

Mostly just EEEEEEEEE ICON.

Fiona had her jump rope in either hand and looked around for someone to spar with.

"Why would anyone make a . . . squishy bendy fake toy version of a string of fish?" Gabrielle asked out loud, holding up said string of fake trout. "Oh well. I'll take it."

Ino poked through the pile of things, wondering if she ought to try and find something that was vaguely similar to what she was used to, or if she ought to just go with the ridiculousness and amuse herself.

. . . both options were rather tempting. She. . . was going to be here for a while.
