"Today, our strategies will be focused on subterfuge," Arthur called, as soon as everyone had gathered. "There may be times when we are best served by creating an ambush. Today, we'll be taking our first steps to put one of those together. For the sake of ease, we will be focusing on the preserve."

He nodded at the treeline none too far away from them. "I want half of you to go into the woods and find good locations to hide. The treetops, for those of you thusly inclined, and holes, bushes and the like for those of you who aren't. The rest of you will go in after them to find their hiding places before they can ambush you. Both of these skills will be necessary. With any luck, we can graduate to the town next time."

"Those of you who wish to discuss last week's escape routes can come to Leto, Zack or myself, and we'll share your findings next week. Likewise for those of you in need of combat training. You know where we are."

He crossed his arms. "Well, what are you waiting for?"

As you guys do.

Those of you looking to be hiders, ping in with your hiding places. Seekers, do your best to find them before they can pull one over on you!

Once they've pinged in, they are available for advice and/or training.

Where I am sorta late.

Worf arrived and took up his usual solitary position within the group. Arms crossed. A somewhat grumpy expression on his face.

In other words: His normal mood.

Worf took the opportunity to climb one of the larger trees in the forest and took refuge within the foliage. This allowed him a good deal of cover as well as a good vantage point.

Merlin was good at hiding! Sometimes. When people were distracted with other things, that is.

But he was there for it now!

Fiona was there, looking a little more sedate than usual.

Excellent hiders they may be, Firekeeper and Blind Seer were easily found at the meeting today. Well, easily found until they were going to go try and hide, that is.

Firekeeper scrambled easily up in to one of the trees, while Blind Seer crouched low to the ground, concealing himself with a cluster of bushes.

Fiona took advantage of her oddity and hid behind a rather dense, prickly bush that most people would have probably found painful to sit in. She did have the very odd sensation of being poked a lot, however.

Arthur was there ~~and had not at all forgotten to ping into his own post~~ stalking the grounds and the preserve in turns.

Fiona approached him as soon as she could.

"Arthur? Can I apologize about Monday?"

"Fiona," Arthur greeted her. He still had absolutely no clue what had actually happened on Monday. "I saw you decided to," flounce like a six-year-old girl, "leave early."

Dinah was here, checking her watch so she could leave in time to take Tony to his (surprise) birthday party.

Ino fiddled with her flower-crown and leaned against one of the trees, looking bored.

She straightened her back and lifted her head, glad she was a blank slate this morning.

"Something you--Merlin said made me think you'd broken your word. And I'm sorry for that. I shouldn't have doubted you."

Broken his word? Arthur made a passable attempt to recall what that meant, but didn't get much beyond 'don't be weird' which in no universe he'd acted like. ...Thought it, sure, but he was trying not to go with impulses his father would have jumped on. And he certainly hadn't stopped teaching her.

"What did Merlin say?" was what came out. Possibly he'd blown most of his tactlessness on Dinah yesterday. Or he was just saving it. Who knew?

Fiona made her way over to Dinah.

"Hey," she offered with a little wave.

"That he was there to watch over the safety of his lord," she told him honestly. She tucked a curl back behind her ear.

"Took it entirely wrong and I thought--" Fiona shook her head "it's not important what I thought but I'm sorry, either way. I've been a little jumpy since my father was here, which totally isn't your fault."

Arthur was going to smack himself in the face one of these days over one of these women. "Merlin's not going to hurt you," he said, matter-of-factly. Unless she put a blade back on his throat, in which case he couldn't actually blame the boy. "But you come to that salle to learn how to be a swordswoman, not a nervous church mouse with a blade. It does no one any good if you just come in to startle."

That was his I'm-talking-to-an-inexperienced-squire tone.

She looked up at him, blinking.

"I'm not worried about him hurting me," she answered back, her voice a little hard, "and I didn't 'startle'. I thought you'd changed things because of what I'd told you."

She hadn't actually put a blade to his throat; if she had, he wouldn't have a head. She'd merely mentioned the possibility, partially to make a point and partially as a lesson in return for him.

"That you didn't trust me not to harm you."

"Hey, Fiona." Dinah smiled when she saw the other girl, and asked, "Did you get my e-mail yesterday?"

The words you probably should be came up in the back of Arthur's head and he wondered idly when he started to think of Merlin as something dangerous - if never to himself. Whatever.

She'd mentioned the possibility while putting her hands on his shirt; that was a threat if he'd ever heard one.

"Nothing has changed about our lessons," he said, simply. It was better than Fine, you didn't startle, you just seemed to be hysterical on many, many levels. "Beyond the fact that you were absent for them this week. I do expect to see you the next."

She nodded.

"Yes, I did. Is there anything last minute you need help with? And, um, should I come or--"

She didn't really know Tony that well.
