The Valley Campfire: Monday Afternoon

Anyone coming across the campfire today would find Layla sprawled out on a blanket as she traced a convuluted route on a map of the Northeastern part of the United States. She was lying on her stomach with her feet up in the air as she munched on a snack of raisins and goldfish crackers

And while a fire wasn't lit in the firepit, there was a cooler of drinks and some goodies from J'GOB sitting on top of them for visitors to enjoy.

"Hey, it's the girl who made me take off my pants," Hannibal said, wandering over towards Layla and the campfire.

"Come back for a repeat performance?" Layla quipped.

"That would a no," he said, shaking his head. "You've seen it, you're not satisfied?"

"Well I'm sure there were people who failed to see the awesome that is you," Layla teased. "And we are in front of a girl's cabin. Can't we get a little fanservice?"

"You're the only girl out here and that cabin could be empty," he replied. "No reason for me to take my pants off."

Layla let out a "tsk" of disappointment. "Shucky-darn. I guess I'll have to find some else willing to drop trou for the good of mankind."

"You're pretty persuasive, I'm sure you won't have any problems," Hannibal decided, leaning back against one of the logs. "You got a thing for guys in boxers or just getting guys to do what you want?"

Kate was passing the Valley cabin on her way to town, with Bobby the penguin poking his head from the bag she was carrying. When she saw there were people around, she decided that she could do with a little detour, and approached the fireless campfire.

"Hi, people."

"The second one," she admitted. "Though boxers are clearly superior to other forms of male underwear."

"You got me to do something once, you'll have to be really persuasive to get me to do something again," he decided. "Not that easy."

"Hi!" Layla said with a cheerful wave. "How are you?"

"I'll find a way," Layla said with a shrug. "Maybe not today or tomorrow. But someday. I'm crafty like that."

"I feel like I should tell you that manipulating me won't really get you any huge reward," he said. "Nothing special about me at all."

"No really no," Layla replied cheerfully. "But you do have the best abs in school so that's always nice to see."

"Pretty good," Kate answered with a smile. "You?"

"Flattery is really nice," he said and laughed, "but not a deal breaker. Still, always nice to hear. It's nice to be known for something."

"How's it going?" Hannibal said, giving Kate a wave from his spot.

Kate gave him a nod and a smile in greeting as she sat down on a log.

"It's going okay. Trying to figure out what this guy," she said while helping the penguin out of the bag and onto the ground, "might want to eat today."

"That's...an interesting pet," Hannibal said, glancing at the penguin. "A penguin?"

"Oh he's not my pet. If he was, I'd probably know what to give him for food," Kate shook her head. "But no. He's my roommate, Bobby."

"That makes a little more sense," Hannibal said, waving to Bobby. "At least he's an interesting animal, right? Nothing boring like a grasshopper."

"I'm usually all for interesting, but I do kinda wish he'd turned into something a little less exotic. And maybe something that didn't involve me carrying him around everywhere," Kate said, followed by a little pout.

Bobby waddled around on his little penguin feet.

"Well, at least he's cute."

"Very," Hannibal agreed, grinning again at the penguin before looking back up at Kate. "I'm Hannibal King. I don't think we've met yet."

"I loathe this school," Tybalt announced, making his way from his cabin to the first campfire that held some faint promise of company, and smelling faintly of cat food. "I loathe this school, this island, and..."

He'd come up with something.

"... Thee." His eyes settled on Layla. Maybe he'd have been better off as a can of cat food, after all.
