Dorm Laundry Room, Sunday Evening

Okay, so Kyle Reese hadn't figured out that you have to wash clothes yet. Alice was kind enough to tell him outright to damned well do it, and so after putting it off for a while, he made his way down to the laundry room to see what this machine was that washed clothes.

It had started off simply enough. Clothes into the machine. Powder into the machine. Press a few buttons. Easy, right?

Easy, until the machine started bucking and spitting and jumping around. Reese dived for cover. "Damned machines," he hissed from his hiding place. The washer was overpacked, unbalanced and spitting suds and was, unfortunately for the unarmed boy with machine issues, bucking and frothing between Kyle and the door.

Bobby knew how to do laundry, sure. He'd just gotten out of the habit what with living in a mansion with staff to do that sort of thing. Well, that and half the time he ended up having to buy new clothes when the old ones got shredded due to bad guys attacking or whatnot.

In any case, it was high time to do some laundry, which is why he'd headed down here with a basket full of clothes.

He definitely hadn't expected to be greeted by a rogue washing machine, though.

"Uh hello?" Bobby called out. "Anyone here?"

"Kyle? Wha? Why?" He did duck though, and scrambled over to where Kyle while thinking about options. He could freeze the water, sure, but that might damage school property and he really didn't need to get kicked out of here a day after telling everyone back home that he was staying.

"Did you put in too many clothes?" Bobby asked. "Or soap? I did that once, and my mom was not happy." He glanced at the wildly rocking machine. "...It wasn't this bad though," he had to admit.

"Aw, don't worry about it," Bobby waved a hand dismissively. "You're my friend, and besides-" he broke off, catching himself before could say 'machines try to kill me all the time back home'. Secret identityyyyyyy. "Besides, at least it keeps things interesting?"

Because one X-Man wasn't enough, Jean totally did her laundry whenever she was running low on options of what to wear. Like you should, you know. But she was that person who had it all nicely sorted by color and how it needed to be washed. It was a bit sickening, really.

So when she showed up to do that and saw a machine doing that, her poor organization went down the crapper as the basket was dropped. "Oh my god!"

"Jean!" Bobby yelled. "We've got a little bit of a problem here." Way to understate things.

So of course Jean took cover. Like someone who was trained to fight evil mutants and protect mankind and blah blah blah peaceful coexistence. "What's wrong? Is it something weird with the island?"

Oh god, was she gonna have a kid show up?!

"What happened?" Because she'd be calm and sensible about this when she wasn't under the assumption, like, Wanda was making things go nutso.

"Okay, point, but I'm not sure if this one is trying to kill us or just... kinda cranky."

Wanda making things go nutso was a totally legitimate explanation for things! So much so that Bobby spent his first couple weeks here convinced that she was hiding somewhere.

"I dunno, I just came in and it was all 'whiirrrr' and soap was all everywhere and I didn't do it I swear."

[identity profile] ihavenocodename.livejournal.com 2009-08-10 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
"The machine did?" Jean peered over at it before ducking away again to avoid soap. "What did you put in there?"
longislandiceme: (bitchface)

[personal profile] longislandiceme 2009-08-10 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
"Hey, hey, hey, I had nothing to do with this!" Bobby took a moment to stick his tongue out at Jean. "The last time I did something like this I was seven. And it wasn't even this bad!"

[identity profile] ihavenocodename.livejournal.com 2009-08-10 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
Um.

"Did you put too much of something in there?" Jean asked, bravely looking over at the angry beast.
longislandiceme: (has an idea!)

[personal profile] longislandiceme 2009-08-10 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
That... was actually a pretty good point. But- "Because this is a school and I'm sure they wouldn't let something like that on the grounds?"

Yeah, see if you can say that with a straight face after the mansion's blown up for the nth time, Drake.

Jean was about to say he totally did this last month, but managed to stop herself in time. "Should we stop it?"

[identity profile] ihavenocodename.livejournal.com 2009-08-10 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh." That was so very confusing, so Jean was just going to pretend she totally got it. Totally. Telepath and all. "Um, maybe we should unplug it?"
