Fourth Floor Common Room; Monday Evening [ 09/14 ].

Clearly, someone getting his old job back at the diner had been cause for inspiration, as Cal was in the kitchen of the fourth floor common room, flipping burgers. Not just any burgers. Awesome feta cheese burgers.

The fact that the new Rumor Girl was on the TV and he was paying more attention to the TV than the burgers was merely coincidence.

Really.

Hayley bounced up behind Cal and grinned.

"I hope ya made extra," she said.

Cal grinned a little himself, head ducking over a slight blush over the Impossible Reality potentially getting to see him at his worse, under the sway of that damn show, the warhorse legs, the uppity bitch. "I did," he said, "but only for cute, doe-eyed blondes."

"Awww, you think I'm cute?" Hayley said. "That's awful sweet of ya."

"I've got two eyes, don't I?" Cal asked. "I'm not blind Tiresias yet."

Yet, but Tiresias was emerging again.

"Blind tires?" Hayley said. "You been smokin' something?"

Hoshi sprinted into the common room. "Did I miss much?" she asked breathlessly as she grabbed a seat on the couch.

"Tiresias," Cal corrected, grinning. "He's from a Greek play I was in once. A blind prophet."

And also rumored to have been afflicted with a different deformity that Cal could relate to far better...

"So he could see the future but nothin' else?" Hayley said. "Jeepers, that's one heckuva trade off."

"....miss much of what?" Cal asked, staring at Hoshi a little.

This was, of course, after he barely stopped himself from gushing out everything that happened in the first five minutes to her, and quickly remembered that he wasn't actually watching it, ahem.

"Rumor Gal," said Hoshi, not taking her eyes off the TV screen. "I started watching the DVDs over the summer and couldn't wait for the start of the new season."

Technically, she could have headed off to the future to see how the show ended, but that was cheating.

"He could also sort of see things that other people couldn't," Cal explained. "Human nature and all that, but, yeah, mostly it was about the future."

"Huh," Hayley said. "I think I prefer just having eyes."

"Has the show started yet?" Worf asked as he entered the room.

Cal was guarding immediate responses regarding the show, but, since it was Worf, he could be honest.

"I think you're just in time for the beginning, man."

"Excellent," Worf replied. "What are you making?"

Hoshi's clear enthusiasm for the show made Cal pause a moment and reconsider his stance on denying his own obsession. After all, if she was into the show that much...

"Oh, man," he said. "I forgot it was even on. Good thing I already had the channel on for background noise, though."

"Of course I would like a show about a girl who spreads rumors," snickered Hoshi. "But really, you should watch it sometime. It's really good, even if you don't aspire to the person who spreads all the gossip."

"Well, when you've got such nice ones," Cal offered, smiling a little sheepishly this time. But it was kind of the least he could do. She'd allowed cuddling and even prompted for a good night kiss.

Plus, it was true. Her eyes sort of haunted him at times, in a very good way.

"There ya go again, flatterin' me," Hayley said. "You be careful, or I'll be putty in your hands."

"Feta cheeseburgers," Cal answered proudly with a grin. "Otherwise known as the best way to eat a cheeseburger in the entire world."

"Well, I've seen a few episodes," Cal said, shrugging.

He also owned the entire first season on DVD. Hush.

"The girls are pretty hot. So you're into the whole gossip aspect of it?"

As someone with a big fat secret, this seemed important to note.

"I'm getting you back," Cal insisted. "For Saturday."

Worf stared at the burgers for a moment and nodded. "If you say so," he replied. "I'll admit that I have not tried the combination before."

"The guys are pretty hot, too," said Hoshi, laughing. "And yes, it's been amusing to see how they use technology from this era to spread rumors and gossip. But that's just me, the communications junkie."
