roof | early evening | saturday | december 26
So, Griff was apparently back and in one piece. It was a Christmas miracle or something. Whatever it was, Alex hadn't hung around the room too long to ask because he'd still been pissed that he'd been worried in the first place. This is the shit that happened when he left himself open and he didn't know how much he liked the feeling.
That and a shitload of other things had been wandering up to the roof, cigarette already lit when he stepped out into the mild evening air. It felt like it'd been awhile since he'd actually smoked on the roof what with the colder temperatures and random weird weather events. It was nice to have something familiar.
He slid down against the roof's wall, leaning back against it, feet crossed at the ankle. His Christmas had consisted of a phone call from his mother, which hadn't been fun. After Christmas, he was a little more determined to make count.
And he'd start by smoking. On the roof. For awhile. Yep.

"Not the details, mind you. I'm not snooping. But if there was such a thing as a lighthouse beacon of anthropomorphic angst, darling, it would be you."

Sadly, this was Emma's version of fussing.

Still. He didn't realize he'd been as obvious as she was making it sound.
"I sound that bad?" he asked, making a face at himself.

"I'm fine," he lied even if he knew it was fruitless with her. "You miss all my dirty thoughts that much?"
no subject
"Keep fibbing at me, and I'll take away the flask," she huffed. "I did, actually, come up for a smoke break because I could hear you up here, and I like the company. Dirty thoughts and all."
no subject
"I didn't mean to give you a headache," he said, passing the flask back over and almost smiling. "But, thinking about it, it's not so bad. Means I got you to come up here, didn't I? Now you can distract me."

"Besides, they always keep me up at night for a week or two, with the freaking out and the whole 'My roommate is a boy/girl/alien/whatever' thing, at least until they adjust."
no subject
Well.
"Unless they're still virginal or some shit."
no subject
That should give him some nice dirty things to think about.
"And I'm still working on trying to get my last little sib to lighten up a bit in that department. She's not a prude or anything, just... needs a little encouragement to go for what she wants."
no subject
See, he was already feeling a little better. Or he was just great at repression. "Find an easy guy and tell her to have fun."
no subject
"And I'm not doubting your many talents, darling. You know how much I enjoy some of them," she teased, handing over the flask again. "I just rarely sleep more than three or four hours at a time on any given night; there's just too many people in too close quarters, and I can't keep them out very well when I'm sleeping. If anything could get me to sleep for a full six hours, it would be a miracle."
no subject
It'd be easier, he thought, if he could blame that. "I'm always willing to try and exhaust you that thoroughly. There's a lot we haven't done."
no subject
"Although if you've got a few suggestions for turning my over-achieving brain off for a few hours, I'd love to hear them."

"Stop that," she laughed, holding her cigarette out to one side and using her free hand to try and swat him away. "That tickles!"
no subject
New discovery, that. "You're ticklish there? I've learned something new!"
no subject
"Don't make me fight dirty, Alex!"
[aaaaaaaand I fell asleep on the computer. GO ME.]
no subject
[hahahaha and I fell asleep in my bed! go us!]

"That's fucking mine," he said, trying to get it back. "You have your own!"

"No more vodka for you, Mr. Karev."

"It's nothing personal, darling, I don't trust anyone," she replied, careful not to get backed into anything. "And I think the only time you're good is when you want to be, and now is not that time."

...Cookies? Why was he thinking about cookies? - oh. Emma yelped and tried to run, although she probably wasn't going to get far, trying to hold two cigarettes and her flask. "That's cheating!"

"There have to be rules," she laughed, letting herself be tugged. "Otherwise there aren't any to break, and then we wouldn't have any fun at all."

And he was awesome. His ego told him so. "They probably wouldn't offer to let you spend the night with them either. I'm special that way."

...what was that he said about the ego?
no subject
And he thought it was a good one.
