First Floor Lobby, Saturday

TELEPORTING SERVICES (NO FOG)

555-BAMF
By the door in the lobby was still a box of gas masks that had been there since Thursday and a clipboard for signing them out. The poster about them was on the wall. At some point, Francine had stopped by and refilled the plate of butterscotch morsel cookies.

Also on the wall was a much cruder, plainer sign that Kurt had taped there.

Today, Kurt was clinging to the ceiling while he watched TV. He wasn't about to turn off the image inducer just yet, but if he was advertising some of his powers, it didn't make sense to hide the others, right? He started amusing himself by trying to figure out the minimum amount of skin contact he could maintain with the ceiling without falling off.

[OOC: Feel free to sign out a gas mask, or just mod having taken one. Also feel free to snag Kurt for transportation.]

Dru had been out handwavily hunting whatever was out there in the fog. Yes, going out alone probably wasn't the greatest idea, but she still wasn't in the most social moods given what had happened during her trip to her father's.

Her senses still on alert, she realized someone was in the lobby as soon as she came in and pulled the gas mask off. It took her a second to remember to look up.

"Hey Kurt."

"Don't know if I got any of them permanently," Dru shrugged. "But I'm pretty sure I hurt a few of them. The fog's too damn thick to tell."

"No, it's not." Which explained why it had set Dru's teeth on edge all week. "But it's perfect cover for whatever creepy crawlies that are running around out there. So I'm thinking if someone could figure out how to get rid of the fog, the monsters will probably follow."

Now that it had been confirmed that there were actual lizard-things and monkey-ponies out there, Bobby had been doing his Championly duty of kicking butt.

"Oh, man, cookies!" he pounced excitedly on the tray, snagging a few before flopping backwards on the lobby couch... and noticing Kurt on the ceiling. "Hey dude. How's it hangin'?"

"Really? I'll have to go check it out," Dru said. "Maybe they could use some help." Although after her disastrous run-in with Sergej, she wasn't so sure how much help she'd be with a true big bad as opposed to the wandering monsters which seemed to be nothing more then canon fodder.

"How is the teleporting business going? People keeping you busy?"

["Servicing anyone who needs it..." You just made me snarf on my keyboard.]

"Oh, you know, keepin' cool." Bobby confirmed, snickering a bit.

They were the very epitome of humour, these two.

"There's food, TV, internet. Staying inside," she told him, "and letting the adrenaline junkies go out to annoy the monsters isn't such a bad idea."

"A few," Bobby said flippantly. "I'm just glad none of them can actually fly. That would've made things harder." Harder, but not impossible.

So, Kate hadn't been outside since Monday. And it was starting to really make her a little stir-crazy. But the fog was still there, and there were creatures in it, and there was no way in hell she was going out.

Still, she'd come down to the lobby today. Mostly, she'd be hovering around the windows, looking out into the fog. Fiddling with the string of pink plastic pearls around her neck.

It felt all wrong between her fingers, but that just matched how seeing the fog outside made her feel.

Good thing teachers could hit the first floor of the dorms, at least, right?

Mitchell definitely thought so, as he slipped in to check on the students and found Kate hovering around. "Penny for your thoughts?"

Makita was just coming back from a patrol, skipping and humming to herself, and grinned when she saw the boy on the ceiling.

"Kurt," she acknowledged, pulling the mask down to let it hang around her neck. "Салам. Having fun?"

Gabrielle had her staff with her, but she wasn't signing out a gas mask to go fight the monsters; the staff was just in case.

Oh, no. Gabrielle, little idealist-in-her-own-way that she was, had other things in mind. So she signed out a gas mask, and off she went.

"Wish I'd bought more cigarettes when I could still go out," Kate replied, turning to look at him. "Also, Fandom sucks ass."

"Hey," Bobby gave his roommate a little wave. By contrast, he'd been in and out all week. "Bored?" he guessed.
vanillajello: (Tired of crap.)

Yes, in and out and getting rocks thrown at him. So smart.

"Yeah," Kate sighed. "Not much better here than it was up in our room, though."

Well, up there she'd been bored. Here she was worried.
