Deck, Sunday Evening

Didi didn't have any kids to visit her -- not exactly a surprise, all things considered -- but she'd gotten a bunch of soda and s'mores supplies at T&C today anyhow, and planned to share them with as many children as possible. She'd always liked the aunt gig; some babysitting could be her good deed for the weekend.

She lit a fire in the firepit and sat cross-legged by it, toasting gooey marshmallows and ready for whoever might come.

Bob had somehow managed to get away from his moms, which meant he was wandering the grounds aimlessly.

Or he would've been if he hadn't gotten distracted by the pretty girl with the marshmallows.

"Hi," Didi returned, holding the bag of marshmallows out. "Do you know hwo to roast these?"

"Nuh-uh." Bob shook his head. "Is it fun?"

"Really fun," Didi nodded. "See, all you have to do is put the marshmallow on a stick, like this, then you hold it over the fire, it gets all golden and yummy."

"Ooh." Eyes wide, Bob moved closer. "Can I do one?"

"Sure," Didi said, passing the marshmallow and stick to the boy. "Don't get burned, okay?"
