Third Floor Common Room [Wednesday evening]

Jaime had mostly nursed his headache from Monday into something reasonable, so now he was ready to do something. Anything, really. As long as it didn't involve lying around in his room.

Fortunately, there was a common room. And Jaime knew how to bake. At the moment he was whipping up three different cookie recipes at once. Not that he was planning to eat three entire batches of cookies on his own, of course. But this was Fandom, and he was in a common room.

He figured he'd have help.

If Tim ever developed a mutant ability, it would probably be the talent to detect someone baking from great distances. He poked his head into the common room. "Cookies?" he asked.

"Cookies," Jaime responded with a smirk. "You want to help? Bake them, sample them, whatever." Jaime was easy that way.

"Sure!" Tim said. "I'm really good at sampling. I have experience with a wide variety of cookies." He grinned. "I can help bake, too, if you show me what to do."

"You do much baking back home?" Jaime asked as he pulled out a cookie sheet.

"Me? No," Tim said. "Our housekeeper's great at it, though, and our neighbor's butler's cookies border on legendary."

"Legendary, huh?" Jaime grinned. "How come no one seems to think that the cookies they've had at home are only so-so?"

Jaime grabbed a can of non-stick cooking spray. "Here. Coat the cookie sheet so that the cookies won't stick when they're done."

"Nostalgia?" Tim asked. He sprayed the cookie sheet. "How are your cookies back home?"

Jaime had to laugh because his answer was pretty predictable. "Awesome."

Alex wandered on down to the common room since a) she had nothing better to do and b) wondered if anyone was about. And look at that, she was successful in finding people.

"Making anything interesting?" Alex was still in a bit of a baking mood from class. If that made any sense at all.

"Coooooooooooooooooookies..."

There was a Delirium peeking at the cookies-in-process.

"What flavors?"

"Depends on whether you consider confections composed primarily of sugar and butter to be interesting or not," Jaime shot back with a grin. He'd just pulled a cookie sheet out of the oven and was spatula-ing cookies onto a wire cooling rack.

"Tasty flavors!" Jaime answered with a smirk, taking a moment to admire the newcomer's hair.

"Classic chocolate chip, oatmeal chocolate chip, and chocolate with white chocolate chips." Someone really liked chocolate chips.

"But the really important question here is 'how's your baking,'" Tim said. "Though I'm feeling optimistic about it."

Alex laughed.

"Definitely interesting and delicious," she replied. "Especially if chocolate's involved. Need any help with those?"

"Not bad, really. I mean, my mom's still better, but she taught me a lot." Actually, Jaime's baking was better than not bad, at least when it came to cookies.

"What kind of help are you offering?" Jaime asked in a teasing tone.

Oh yeah, look at that wavy, never quite defined hair color.

"Hm, can you make strawberry firefighter monkey flavored ones?" Not that there was anything wrong with the chocolate chips.

"I've... never tried," Jaime admitted, frowning slightly and trying to figure out if she was just messing with him or not. "And I don't think I've got a recipe..."

"I'd say whatever takes the least amount of work but I'm feeling particularly helpful tonight," Alex winked. "If you need another batch whipped up, I could take care of that, no problem."

Someone's been practicing.

"Well, if you're gonna offer..." Jaime grinned and held out the newly emptied cookie sheet and nodded toward a bowl of batter. "You want to put another batch together?" By the time they got it in the oven the cookies which were cooling would probably be cool enough to pick up. Even if they'd still be super-gooey.

She couldn't possibly mess with anyone...well, not with that way. "You should try; it's one of the most awesome flavors humanity have ever not created...I knew the recipe, but I left it when I came here..." And now she was trying to remember if you needed to blend the monkey, or boil the firefighter.

"Not created?" Jaime repeated, sounding a bit confused.

"That I can do," Alex nodded, smiling warmly. "Shouldn't be too hard." She took the cookie sheet and put it down, so she could scoop out the batter onto it.

Super-gooey cookies were the best in her opinion.

"Oh yeah?" Tim picked up a spoon and reached for a sample of the nearest batter.

Del nodded happily. "Humans haven't stop to make the best flavors just yet, so I'm making a list of the best flavors yet known to men." Or she was before coming to Fandom, but that was one of her favorite topics of conversation. "There is also Like chicken and telephone, but those taste good on ice cream."
