Main Campfire, Sunday, Evening

After the sun set, the temperature started creeping down again, which made a little past dusk the perfect time to make some s'mores. Rinoa had a huge bag of marshmallows, and some pointed sticks, and all the necessary ingredients. Along with some drinks in a cooler and a black tri Aussie shepherd. (Not in a cooler, but rather, lying on the grass wagging her tail.)

The puppy was not required for s'mores, but Rinoa was not going to hurt Angelo's feelings by telling her that.

Hinata had decided that it was more than lovely enough to spend the day outdoors and, after a day spent mostly in the preserve, with Yei amusing herself as they went, she felt happy and calm enough to want to socialize.

And the girl at the fire did not appear to be someone she knew. Well, Hinata knew she had to start somewhere.

"Excuse me," she called, little white kitten in her arms and far enough away to avoid causing difficulty should the dog object to Yei's presence. "D-Does your dog have any problems with cats?"

Christian wandered out to the campfire, a white kitten cradled in his arms. "Rinoa," he said. "Do you know who she belongs to? I found her by my bunk. She's quite affectionate."

[OOC: Leia modded with permission. Mwah.]

Excuse the happy wiggle. KITTY. Kitties were cuuuute.

"Nope!" Rinoa said cheerfully. "She'll be good, I promise. She might sniff a lot, so I hope your cat doesn't scare easily. Oh, she's beautiful."

"Hi!" Rinoa called, waving Christian over. "I haven't seen her before, no. She's adorable. Are you going to keep her?? Maybe she was a stray and she needs a good home."

Hinata laughed softly as she knelt to set Yei down. The kitten blinked at her surroundings, wound herself once around Hinata's ankles and then went to go and inspect the other person. Hiii person!

... Yei failed at 'shy'.

"Thank you," she said, sitting and keeping an eye on Yei to make sure she stayed away from the fire. "Yei does not scare easily. Are you a new student? My apologies, I am Hinata."

Christian hadn't really considered that. "I will if she wants to be kept?" he said, setting the kitten down by the fire. "I wasn't looking for a pet ... though she is quite pretty."

Puck, unlike his predecessors, was not carrying a cat when he wandered over to the campfire. Cute girl, marshmallows -- hey, a dog, even. He liked all these things. "You sharing?"

And now there were two white kittens at the campfire!

Which meant, of course, the one already on the ground had to wander over to inspect the stranger's well, shoes.

Yei could not exactly inspect the kitten when she was way up there!

Hinata smothered a giggle.

"Yei?" she asked, waving her fingers for the kitten to smell. "Aren't you precious? I smell like dog. It's okay. The puppy will behave."

She glanced back up at the other girl with a smile. "Rinoa. Very new, I just got here a few weeks ago. And this is Angelo. Do you like s'mores? I'm making extras."

"Oh, you're right," she said, watching the kitten carefully to make sure she wasn't going to lunge at the fire. Or at Angelo. The puppy could protect herself, but the puppy might not realize how rough she was playing.

"She might be a stray that likes being a stray. Some do. Do you not like pets, then? I wasn't really looking for one, exactly, but Angelo was just too cute to pass up."

"Absolutely," she said, holding out the bag of marshmallows with a grin. "I even offer toasting services, but then you're not allowed to complain if I overcook your marshmallow. So ... are you Puck?"

There were only so many hot guys with mohawks, was the thing.

Those fingers were less going to be smelled and more going to be sniffed and then bumped against because pettings were always approved of.

"Good evening, Angelo. Rinoa." Hinata smiled. "I do like s'mores. Would you like some help?"

He raised an eyebrow. "You've heard of me?" he asked, flashing a grin.

"Would you mind?" Rinoa asked, giggling and scritching behind Yei's ears. "I seem to have my hands full, all of a sudden."

If the kitten didn't object, then she was going to find herself scooped up and placed on Rinoa's lap.

"Hello there," Christian said to Yei, while Leia went off to sniff at her. "Who do you belong to?"

"I have," she said. "The walls have eyes. And there are squirrels running around gossiping about everyone. Is it just me, or is that creepy? Anyway, I was told you had a mohawk and a hot body."

From the gestures she used to mime those two points, Puck might be able to gather who had passed the information along.

Leia wasn't going to do anything stupid; she was just exploring, and staying well away from the gross dog thing.

"I'm not opposed to them, but there's hardly room in the cabins, is there?" Christian said mildly. "And I don't know how my roommate in the dorms would feel about it. Angelo is adorable."

Christian, cat having wandered away, waved to Puck. "Having a good weekend?"

The kitten really did not object. She was just going to start purring and snuggling instead.

One day, Yei would take over the world with cute. This was her practice ground.

"I do not mind at all," she laughed, and offered her hand to Angelo to sniff. "I completely understand, in fact. You cannot argue with a pet and hope to win in the long run."

Yei, being nothing more than a perpetual kitten, and not a student was far more interested in inspecting the other kitten than in figuring out what was being said to her.

"She's m-mine," Hinata called, with a small wave. "I hope she is not being a bother."

"Not much room," Rinoa admitted, "unless you don't mind being snuggled in your sleep." Luckily, she didn't.

"I was worried about the roommate issue when I got here. I figured I could sleep outside if I had to. They couldn't make me give her up."

There was a low success rate of people trying to make Rinoa do things. Which had nothing to do with her new powers and everything to do with her being spoiled and entitled.

"But she gets along fine with my roommate. And thank you," she beamed. "Did you want to pet her? She doesn't bite."

Hinata had never spoken to him before but that did not mean she had to be rude and ignore him. So, as Yei amused herself by inspect a twig, Hinata nodded to the man.

"Good evening," she said, with a soft smile.

Puck wasn't the sharpest tack, so he really just assumed all women were constantly talking about him. "These are true facts," he agreed, preening a bit. And then it caught up to him, with the miming, and was like, "Wait, you use your hands to talk. Are you like, related to Ariel? Or friends with her?"

Because everyone who gesticulated was related.

"Lazy weekend," he said happily, stretching his legs out. "What's your name, dude who built the awesome leaf bed?"

"Oh, she is friendly," Rinoa laughed. "Did you like that? Who's a good little girl?"

Snuggling was always acceptable behavior. Rinoa was so going to keep her. (Okay, she'd give her back, but she wanted to.)

For her part, Angelo was padding over, carefully, and sniffing at Hinata's outstretched hand. Mental catalogue: updated. Girl: new. Smelled like: the kitten on Rinoa's lap.

"I never argue with Angelo," she added, affectionately. "She's stubborn and she thinks she should get everything she wants."

Which was very, very different from Rinoa herself. Really.
