Third floor common room, Thursday afternoon

Claudia had no classes. She had no work. She was waiting to hear back from some experts in regards to the whole Joshua question, and she had no current projects in regards to building, experimenting, or overclocking anything.

She was (god help us all) bored.

So here she was, in the common room, sacked out on the couch and watching a movie about bouncing puppets and a rock star who stuffed his pants.

When Jonas wandered into the common room, his greeting was forgotten in lieu of the strange, colorful movie playing on the television. He stared for a few moments before glancing at Claudia.

"Those pants are very tight," he observed about the man with the large hair.

Claudia grinned. "Damn right they are. And this movie's supposed to be for kids."

"Wouldn't that frighten kids if they didn't know what it was?" Jonas wondered, squinting at the television.

"Well . . . I'm pretty sure I was never afraid of a guy who stuffs his pants. . . ."

Jonas didn't exactly mean that but explaining would have been embarrassing. Instead, he shook his head. "He's the villain, I'm assuming?"

[Forgive me if I disappear, sudden storms are just rolling on in.]

"Either that or the love interest. It's a little hard to keep track."

"Love interest for the dark haired girl?" Jonas wondered, glancing at the television screen again. It was either her or one of the goblin things.

"He's totally in love with her. I'm not sure if she loves him back, yet."

"He looks a little old for her," Jonas observed. "If he's in love with her, obviously it doesn't bother him but she might have an issue."

"Yeah, it's a little creepy. Especially considering he totally, like, stole her brother to get her to come to his crazy puppet world."

"What's he going to use her brother for?" Jonas wondered. "Leverage?"

Cloud had stopped over the common room, marveling himself at the lack of people there. Somehow, he still preferred when there wasn't many others to interact with. He was weird like that.

But what was weirder was...that thing on the television.

"That...can't be right." It was more a statement than a comment, but he still turned at Claudia, as if he needed confirmation he wasn't seeing things.

"Well, the puppets are, like, boogie men. So they might want to eat him. Or the brother's supposed to be the heir to the throne of boogie men."

"It's a fantasy movie. It's not supposed to be right."

"This movie...makes little sense," Jonas admitted with a shake of his head, "but it's interesting to watch. We didn't have puppets where I'm from."

"What do you have where you're from?"

Jonas paused for a moment. "We have books. And families spent nights talking to each other. That...was about it."

Cloud waved a hand at her. "That's not what I- fantasy?" Really? Considering where they were living, fantasy was more of a common sight for Cloud.

"That's very . . ." Claudia wasn't entirely sure what that was. "Wholesome?"

"The puppets are supposed to be, like, spooky boogie men or something."

"Sheltered," he provided. "Restrictive. I'm from a strange place, I've come to see. We were very isolated and thought what we had was fine since we didn't know what else existed."

"Yeah, but still. Puppets? I thought those dated back, to, like, Plato."

"That makes no sense." Truly, it didn't for him. "Ridiculous doesn't equal fantastical." Not always, at least.

"They probably do but I didn't know Plato existed until I came here," Jonas admitted. "We didn't have those sorts of books back home."

"Yeah, but most of the world -- or the one that made the movie at least -- thinks those things don't exist. So it's, you know, fantastical."
