Tuesday Afternoon
James thrust.
He pulled back, dancing on the balls of his feet, swinging the longsword hard around as he moved from a parry to a slicing blow, something he'd not attempt with his own.
Something in the Reserves earlier this afternoon touched a nerve with him, and the lad decided to work it out with steel.
He put both hands on the longsword grip as he moved through his workout, the sword heavier and longer than his usual rapier, muscles burning from moving around more weight than normal. Arutha said it was a trick his Swordmaster taught him, to build up strength and stamina so that when he switched to the rapier, he was quicker and faster. Having seen Arutha's prowess with the thin blade--the one James currently owned, even--he believed it.
The boy would even pass that tip along, should anyone visit for a spar or tips.
