It was safe to say that Percy had been looking forward to this since he and Luke had made plans. It wasn't just getting to fight someone that he could go all out against, it was getting to fight Luke. Every single time he'd come up against Luke in the last three years, it'd been when Luke had a gang of monsters and minions at his back.

This would be one on one. When he'd met Luke, he'd been easily bested, easily shown up and easily embarrassed. He'd learned though and he wasn't the same person now as he was back then. Percy didn't know if he could beat Luke but he knew he'd give him a tough fight.

For now, he was taking some easy swings at the practice dummies, warming up with Riptide while he waited for his cousin to show up.

[Percy's only gonna be fighting Luke but the salle is totes open for conversation and practice!]

Luke showed up a few minutes later, his sword at his side, and looking a little bit like he had just finished practicing too. He was arrogant, but not egotistical enough to think that he wouldn't have to work to win.

But he would win, he knew that much.

"I'm surprised you haven't gathered an audience to watch this," Luke said. "Since you seem so confident that you'll win."

When Percy heard Luke's voice, he let his sword bury itself in the dummy's neck before he turned around.

"I don't know that many people," he replied, shrugging. Besides, he really didn't want an audience in case he lost. He'd never live that one down. "There's nothing wrong with being confident. I might have a reason for it."

"There is such a thing as being overconfident," Luke said. He would know. Luke leaned against his sword and did his best to look disinterested as an attempt to psych Percy out. "So how do you want to do this? Shields? No shields? First person who bleeds loses? Or do I just have to disarm you?"

"If I was overconfident, I'd have an audience." And since there was no audience, he didn't think he was overconfident. His logic was sometimes flawed.

"Shields." Percy glanced down at the watch on his wrist and knew Tyson's craftsmanship would hold up against Luke. "First blood. Disarming doesn't sound as real."

There was a slight eyeroll at the last bit, since it made Percy sound like even more of a little kid. "Fine. Give me one second."

There were shields in the Salle, but Luke felt more comfortable with his own. So with a quick flick of his sword he managed to disappear, but was back less than a minute later, shield in hand.

"By the way that didn't count as using powers," Luke said. "If I ran all the way back to my room you would have died of impatience."

"I wouldn't have died of anything," Percy said, rolling his eyes now that Luke could see him. Rolling his eyes when Luke was gone wouldn't have been as good.

"As long as you don't disappear during our fight, you can use all the powers you want," Percy decided, hitting a button on his watch and letting it morph into the shield Tyson had created.

"Nice shield," Luke said, mildly jealous of the cool toy. "And you don't want me using my powers. I could summon up something to help me kick your ass."

Which would be really cheating.

"A friend of mine made it for me," he said, pretty pleased with the shield himself. He was lucky that Tyson was so good at what he did.

"And if you tried to summon things, I'd drown you," he added absently.

"Which is exactly why we're not using powers." He didn't feel like drowning. Luke adjusted the shield on his left arm and lifted up his sword. "You ready?"

"I am if you are," Percy said, tightening his grip on Riptide and stepping closer. If Luke didn't need a warm up, he wasn't going to make him take one. Maybe that'd be an easy advantage for Percy.

Percy was an idiot if he didn't think Luke warmed up beforehand. He was ready, but didn't bother saying so. He thought the jab he made towards Percy's ribs was answer enough.

It's not people got warning in a regular fight. Why should Percy get one now?

Percy hadn't expected Luke to start counting down or anything like that. Maybe he wasn't the smartest demigod ever but he wasn't an idiot and he wasn't expecting Luke to make it easy.

Percy stepped back and whipped his sword towards Luke's, making to knock it away and give himself an opening to try and push Luke with the shield on his other arm.

Luke was knocked back a few steps, which caused him to smile a bit. It had been a while since he fought against another person and he had kind of missed it.

He twirled the sword in his hand around and waited for Percy to make the next move, interested in seeing what his offense was like.

Percy shook out the arm that was holding his shield and circled around Luke, contemplating his next move. He thought he had the slight advantage in at least having faced Luke before. He had some knowledge of how he moved.

Of course, Percy also knew that knowing someone didn't matter. Luke himself had made him believe that.

He twirled his sword once before he swung it low, aiming the blade for Luke's calf.

Luke had kept an eye on Percy while he was circling him, as always finding it fascinating to watch someone thing during a fight. As much as he hated it sometimes, he could see why Chiron assigned him to be a teacher in camp.

He managed to step out of the way of the blow and immediately struck back, flicking his sword up to try to catch Percy in the arm.

If Percy hadn't realized Luke was quick before, he knew it now. He just managed to get his shield up, sending Luke's sword deflecting off it and saving his arm a laceration and a loss.

He didn't waste anytime anymore, taking a quick step closer to Luke and swinging Riptide in a tight motion towards Luke's opposite arm. He knew if he lengthened his swings too much, Luke would jab him in the stomach.

Luke had the ADHD to thank for being able to catch what Percy was doing. He had barely gotten out of the way in time, and almost fell over because of it. Not very smooth.

Luke was off balance, but that didn't stop him from trying to strike back. He could see was protecting his front better now, so Luke kicked his foot out and hooked it around Percy's leg in an attempt to knock him over.

Percy knew he should have expected that. He didn't see it coming until the last minute though. He didn't fall completely off his feet but that was only because he got Riptide down to break his fall.

That left him completely open though for the split second it was going to take him to get his feet completely under him again. He had the shield though and he was prepared to use that should Luke come striking.

Luke didn't plan on using his sword just yet. Instead he kicked Percy again, finding it easier to deal with him if he were on his back.

Gods, not dirty.

Oh, Luke knew he hoped it was dirty. And Percy wasn't about to let his cousin just kick him around. He spotted the kicking coming out of the corner of his eye.

The shield came up and Percy hoped Luke ran his leg right into the hard metal of the shield.

He did, and it freaking hurt. Luke wasn't about to let Percy see just how bad it hurt, however, so he did his best to remain stoic about the whole thing.

"You're not going to make this easy on me, are you?" Luke asked, panting slightly. He could do better, he knew he could, but he thought it'd be easier than this.

"If you honestly expected an easy match, you're not as smart as I thought." On one hand, that was admitting he thought Luke was smart. On the other, it was also calling that into question.

Percy got back to his feet, Riptide leveled at Luke's chest. "It wouldn't be as fun if it were easy."

"Are you having fun?" Luke asked as he started to circle Percy, trying to find a weak spot to hit.

"Oh, I'm having a blast," Percy answered, half sarcastic. "And yourself?"

"There's worse ways to spend an afternoon," Luke told him. He was having fun, actually.
