Third Floor Common Room | Afternoon | Monday | September 6

One of the benefits of being a demigod was that Percy wasn't showing any effects of his fight with Luke yesterday. He'd gone down to the beach and done some swimming which had taken care of the cut on the back of his shoulder and the bruises on his hand. Even if Luke had beaten him, Percy was glad that he wasn't going to show obvious signs of that which would bring questions which would mean he'd have to tell people what happened.

And he really didn't want to tell people he'd gotten beaten.

There was a bad action movie on the television that had gotten Percy's attention almost immediately. He spent so much time training and running from monsters that getting to just chill out and watch movies had become a rare thing. He was taking advantage of it while he could.

Even the action movie couldn't completely hold his attention so if it looked like Percy wasn't paying attention, he probably wasn't. His thoughts were pinballing around every so often. If some of those thoughts included his cousins, well, oh well.

[It's a common room so it's open, dontcha know]

Wesley did not live on the third floor, but it was no fun to hang out in an empty common room, so he'd walked around till he found an occupied one. One that was occupied by Percy, though... he thought he might've been better off with the empty one.

He'd already walked in, though. Oh well.

"Hello," he said tightly, sitting down on the other end of the couch.

"The radio mentioned you had a spar with someone last night," Wesley commented. Yep, this was him being intensely passive-aggressive. "How was it?"

It didn't escape Wes' notice that that wasn't the same as saying he'd won, but it was true that Percy looked a sight better than Wesley had after their spar. "I suppose your opponent must not have been very formidable, then," he snarked.

"Hardly," Wes answered snidely. Then, puffing out his chest, he continued in a deeply unsuccessful attempt to sound offhand, "Though it may interest you to know that I engaged in a spar in class this morning as well."

It probably wouldn't, but Wesley had skewed ideas about how much people cared about the workings of his life.
vanillajello: (Calm and looking at you.)

It didn't matter much that Kate had had a barbecue in class earlier. She still wanted vanilla pudding now. And there was only one place to get some.

Okay, so there was more than one place, but this was the closest to her room.

"Oh look, you're still here," she noted, idly amused, after wandering into the common room. And heading straight for the fridge.
vanillajello: (Well there's this one thing...)

"Eh." Kate shrugged noncommittally as she reached for her pack of pudding snacks and picked out a cup. "I've yet to see anyone actually leave after just one week. But stuff happens, so you might've."

"Oh, they've quite a few, in fact," Wesley said, pleased to know something Percy didn't. "This class in particular is Personal Weapons class. It's quite informative, actually. Much more so than the combat course I took over the summer, at any rate."

It did kind of miff him that Percy was that good with a sword even without taking a class in it, though.
vanillajello: (Yeah sure.)

"Mmh." She closed the fridge and got herself a spoon before saying anything more substantial. "So, have you annoyed many other people in your first week? Since you seem to be in one piece and not completely off your rocker, I'm at least guessing you haven't stepped on too many superpowered toes yet."
vanillajello: (God's honest truth.)

[personal profile] vanillajello 2010-09-06 08:37 pm (UTC)(link)
"All kinds, really," Kate shrugged, peeling the lid off her pudding cup. "Magic, teleportation, super strength, super speed, telepathy..."

She paused. "I wouldn't recommend letting yourself be annoyed --" Oh, the sarcasm was heavy there. "-- by Emma Frost. Your brain won't like it."

[identity profile] wesleynotponcy.livejournal.com 2010-09-06 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes, actually," he answered shortly. Well, he was training really just to train, but that was about showing the Watchers' Council that he was still devoted to what he was learning and would gladly accept another position. Which maybe was woefully deluded, but it worked as motivation. "It's preparation for a - a job of sorts." A job he probably wouldn't get, but Percy didn't have to know that.

"And yourself? Why do you know so much about fencing?"
vanillajello: (Blah blah blah.)

[personal profile] vanillajello 2010-09-06 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
"No, I'm pretty sure she can zap you into thinking you're like, a hamster or something," Kate said, nodding. "Something along those lines."

[identity profile] wesleynotponcy.livejournal.com 2010-09-06 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
"I suppose it could," said Wesley skeptically. He didn't really believe that, but it wasn't like he was really being Full Disclosure Guy either. Selective honesty was something he could get behind.
vanillajello: (Idle talk.)

"What makes you think I think that?" Kate retorted, after a spoonful of pudding.

Really, she knew better by now than to assume anyone was like her. Almost everyone around her was special some way or another. It was pretty depressing, sometimes.

"I haven't seen anything yet, but who knows what the fuck you'll turn out to be."
