trigons_child: (Meditating)

The Roof, Tuesday night

Raven was still unsettled by her meeting with Sherlock earlier that day, so when she came home from work she headed up to her usual spot on the roof to meditate. She knew she should let mere words upset her so much, especially when they came from a sociopath stranger. Sitting cross-legged on the roof near the garden, she closed her eyes and let herself sink into a light trance, trying to calm herself down and forget about what the unpleasant man had said. The evening was very pleasant, at least, and the moon was lovely and full.

[Open roof is ooopen.]

Quinn was bored out of her skull, so she went to the roof.

"Are you dead or anything?" she asked the meditating girl, with her usual abundance of tact.

"Oh." Quinn probably should have figured that one out. "Is that supposed to help you stop smoking or something? Like, distract you from nic fits?"

"Which would be why you would be quitting," Quinn said, because duh. "Sorry if I'm interrupting you or whatever. I can let you meditate."

"Good," Quinn said. "I came up here 'cause it's way too quiet in the dorms and I don't feel like going to the gym. I think people must actually be studying."

It had been a hectic and overly social few days for Bruce. That's why he was going to the roof to get out into the night air and have some time alo... Yeah, that never really worked like he thought it would.

"Sorry, didn't mean to interrupt," Bruce said when he realized Raven was meditating.

"I didn't really go out in that," Quinn mused. "Did you? I'm not big on fighting things unless I have to."

"In that case, hello," Bruce said, returning the smile. "Do you come out here to meditate often?"

"She says she wouldn't be up here if she didn't want company," Quinn said. "Hey, Bruce. Trying to find signs of life?"

[identity profile] willbethenight.livejournal.com 2010-09-22 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
"Hello, Quinn," Bruce said. "Honestly? Trying to get some time to myself. That rarely works when I come up here."

[identity profile] chief-cheerio.livejournal.com 2010-09-22 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
"Really?" Quinn looked at Raven like she'd sprouted a second head. "So what would you do if, like, some girl stole your boyfriend?"

"It's a good place for it," Bruce said. "I try to come up here once in a while to get some time to myself. I usually find somebody else trying to do the same thing, though. You'd think I'd have learned to find somewhere else by now."

Quinn snorted. "First time I came up here I got locked out with Wesley for hours."

She exaggerated. It had been 45 minutes, maybe.

"I've never had it all to myself."

"Even if it would make you feel better and she completely deserves it?"

Quinn was not too proud to pull hair.

"And neither of you know how to pick a lock? That's a shame," Bruce said. "I've managed to get up here alone a couple times. That's a pretty poor success rate since January, though. I should probably just be prepared for people."

"Put it up in the stairwell on the fifth floor?" Bruce suggested. "That way people have the option to just go watch TV if they're going to have to talk to people anyway."

Bruce would still choose the roof, though. He'd choose the night air to the sound of television any day.
