Bruce was in an experimental mood. He sat down, turned the TV on, and turned on Project Runway. It worked. He was able to change it to exactly the channel he was trying to. He then tried changing the channel. Nope. No such luck for Bruce Wayne tonight.

Roy paused in the doorway for a moment before deciding that yeah, Project Runway seemed 'Bruce'-ish. He entered the room properly and joked, "Scouting the models?"

"Making sure I'm prepared for any fashion we might see this weekend," Bruce replied. "I figure it's best to play it safe."

Ino wandered in, happy as a clam and utterly relaxed.

She glanced at the screen.

Then at Bruce.

"...I don't think you're allowed to say nothin' 'bout what I happen to be watchin' next time we meet like this," she decided.

"This TV dislikes me," Bruce explained. "And I'd rather not leave anyone who comes into the room without conversation since the channel doesn't want to be changed."

"No, you're supposed to say, 'Actually, I used to date the blonde and the brunette in the really short thing. At the same time,'" Roy said helpfully. "Although I guess they're all wearing the really short thing, huh?"

"Hmmm," she said, amused. "You know, I think Cal used to pretend he lost the remote whenever Rumor Gal was on. Maybe this is more of the same thing? Tsk, tsk."

"Unfortunately, I haven't dated a supermodel yet," Bruce said. "I figure I can stick to regular high school girls for another year or so."

Said the guy who had dated a superhero and was going to Homecoming with a mermaid.

Bruce picked up the remote and started pressing the channel buttons to no affect. "It's a long-standing grudge. "I'll take this thing apart before the semester's over if I have to."

She laughed, draping herself over the back of the couch to glance at the remote.

"Maybe you rigged it that way?" she teased. "Bet you could."

Plenty of time for supermodels later, Roy figured. "There are no 'regular' girls at this high school, dude." For one thing, Roy couldn't seem to land any of them.

"You're right that I could," Bruce said. "But why would I? If I wanted to watch this, I could easily say that I'm watching for the women, or I wanted to get in touch with my feminine side."

"It's a relative term. Just ignore the time travel and powers and most of them are close enough to normal," Bruce said.

Said the guy who didn't know that he was going to Homecoming with a mermaid.

Ino wrinkled her nose. "They're borin' women," she decided, studying the show for all of three seconds. "Ain't this one of those clothing-obsessed shows? Ew."

"Spoken like a true son of Gotham City," Roy joked.

"It seems to be. I haven't paid enough attention to know what the actual point is," Bruce admitted.

"The worst part is that my Gotham isn't even as strange as the Gothams in other worlds," Bruce said. "Yet."

"Probably somethin' like 'who is the prettiest' or whatnot," she said, with a sigh. "There's a scary 'mount of importance on that to a lot of people."

"For television, that's not scary. It's expected," Bruce pointed out.

She lifted her shoulders. "Which is a pretty compellin' reason to not much of it, right?"

"Personally, I only really try to catch the news and informational programming," Bruce said. "But we don't really have local news here, and the amount of truly informational television is dwindling."

"But I still seem to think of this specific TV as a challenge, which means I have to deal with it sometimes."

"You'll have to keep me updated on your epic battle against it," she said, amused. "Books're easier to track down the useful stuff from. Or the 'net."

"Yeah, see, I'm from later, so I'm used to Gotham being weird," Roy said.

Also, various other parts of the country. But especially Gotham.

"Here I always thought the only trouble Gotham would see was crime," Bruce said. "So far I've heard about magic, cultists, and aliens. I'm not sure I want to know more."

Mostly because different worlds meant different possibilities. Bruce would rather find out what his Gotham was likely to have and then prepare specifically for that.

... With some additional preparation for everything else he could think of, yes.

"You've never seen my library or my computer," Bruce mused. "I have those mediums well covered."

"Can't see you lettin' me on your computer," she noted, though really if he did, it wasn't like she knew enough to do anything to it. "But a library--maybe. Books and stuff are the primary information sources back home."
