Percy made sure to get down to the salle a little early just so he could go through some warm ups since he hadn't kept up with his training very well over break. Riptide went from pen to sword easily in his hand and Percy held it loosely while he adjust his armor.

Yes, he was wearing armor. He was about to spar with another demigod and he didn't want to end up with an arm sliced off or a kneecap severed or something. Plus, he liked the armor. And despite not having practiced for awhile, he fell back into the old routines easily.

Now, he was just swinging Riptide and waiting for Nico and anyone else who might wander their way down. He was ready to both fight and take down his bitchy cousin. Hopefully he'd refrain from kneeing him in the junk.

It wasn't long before Nico arrived, his nightmare black armor already in place - minus the helmet. There was no real need for feathers or head guards if the sparring was supposed to be 'friendly,' after all. His sword was ready at his side, all three feet of wicked sharp Stygian iron.

There was no avoiding the memories that seeing Percy like this evoked, but Nico was trying to stay focused on this fight. He wanted to show Percy he wasn't that twelve-year-old kid anymore. And he planned to do it without attacking Percy's junk.

Strange how the son of Hades seemed to fight the fairest.

"Good, you're ready."

Percy just preferred to think of it as using all available resources in order to get the upper hand. He rested Riptide against his shoulder when Nico arrived.

"Yep," he said, shrugging. "You wanna warm up?"

Luke felt like he he should have brought popcorn or something for this, but resisted the urge to be a smartass for once and just brought himself to the salle. He had no intention of fighting anybody today so he was just there in jeans and a sweatshirt, no armor or sword or anything like that. He was just there to watch.

He did snap up a chair to sit in because if he was gonna watch, he was gonna be comfortable while he did it.

"I guess if you need to, I can wait," Nico replied, having prepared before showing up downstairs. "How's the arm?"

"I don't need to warm up," Percy said, rolling his eyes. "Just trying to be fair. And it's fine."

He even pulled up his sleeve to show off the trident on his arm. It was actually kind of cool now that it didn't hurt like hell.

"How's yours doing?"

"You look like you just need popcorn to make this day complete for you," Percy said idly while pulling on the armor to guard his wrists. "Enjoying yourself?"

"I think I will be when the fight starts," Luke said, smiling at him. "You ready?"

"Yeah, I'm not worried," he said, shrugging. That didn't mean he wasn't prepared or anything but he hadn't lost sleep over this. "Think my chances are good?"

The trident was pretty cool looking, but he still liked his own better. Nico turned slightly, displaying the design on his exposed shoulder. Hey, they were fighting indoors and Nico had no need for long sleeves with Luke's prescribed regimen. "It's good. We doing rules?"

"Of course I do," he said. "I've been pushing Nico a lot lately, but you're still one of the better swordsmen I've seen."

"So, gonna pick a winner?" Percy asked, pretty sure he wouldn't. Not out loud, at least.

"Fine with me," Percy said, shrugging. "You got some in mind?"

"The plan's power-free, yes?" Nico checked. Not that he was unwilling to rip the floor open under Percy or shoot a wall out of the ground.

"I've already picked who I'll be cheering for, yes," Luke said. He thought it was fairly obvious who he wanted to win, but Percy was kind of dense, so.

"Yeah, seems to me that'd be the easiest and most fair way," he said even if they were probably evenly matched in the scope of their respective powers. "How do we figure out a winner? First blood?"

He was not that dense. Good thing Luke didn't say that out loud or Percy would have withheld.

"You just need pompoms and a short skirt and you'd be the typical cheerleader."

"Well that's kinky," he teased. "I'm not sure I have the legs for that."

"Did Luke Castellan just say he couldn't do something?" Percy asked, faking some surprise. "Wow, momentous occasion. I wish I'd have gotten that on tape."

Jason had promised Nico that he would come and see this, if for no other reason than to balance out Luke as a referee. He had to admit, the guys certainly looked like they were ready, with their armor and all, and Jason was working very hard to not stare at Nico inappropriately, no matter how hot his armor was.

"First to draw blood should work. I hope you don't like that shirt too much." Because arms were a good target in this sort of fight.

"Ha ha, you're so funny with your attempts at trash talk," Percy said, tightening his wrist guards. "First blood works for me. I'll try to give you any new scars."

"Shut up," Luke said, lightly kicking Percy's leg. "Or I'll change my mind about cheering for you."

"You would not," Percy said, shaking his head. "You cheer for the more awesome cousin and that's obviously me."

Nico drew his sword and slashed it in the air, feeling the familiar weight as he walked along the edge of the fighting space. "I don't mind the scars. They remind me to be faster next time." And remember Luke doesn't pull punches.

"You would almost think you're eager for this or something," Percy said, circling to the other end of the space and giving Riptide a few waves through the air.
