Fighting Reserves: Behind the Dorms, After Classes (Tuesday Afternoon)

Maaaaan, it had been a while since the Reserves had met like this, hadn't it? If anything that wasn't going to do anything but encourage Zack to peer curiously around the group, trying to see if he could spot any new faces. Sure, it was a little chilly out, but that was what the coffee was for. Really, he was kind of starting to see what Maladicta saw in the stuff!

"Hey, guys! Welcome to the first Reserves meeting of the new semester! You're probably all introduced half to death by now, right?" He took a mouthful of sweet, sweet coffee, and offered the group a grin. "Sorry, but we're going to make you do it one more time, for good measure."

Maladicta peered out from under her umbrella ella ella to give him an amused look. "We'll at least try our best to make it interesting for you to do for no doubt the twentieth time these past two weeks."

"Because this isn't class." Kennedy paused long enough to take a swig of her own coffee. "Not to say this isn't serious business. So, new kids, let's just give you the quick rundown. If you're here, we're assuming you wanna help out next time something ugly goes down and we need to kick some ass. So-- introductions this time? You kinda get to brag about yourself, 'cause we're interested in knowing what you can do."

Really, it wouldn't be a reserves meeting at all without snacks. Or the coffee, and Alexander, naturally, enjoyed them.

While looking all leaderly. Oh yeah, not a rag tag bunch of misfits with a million to one chance at victory. Which, as we all know, is actually not that bad.

And there was coffee involved. So of course Maladicta was there.

Yay snacks! Tuesday was the one day a week that Wesley didn't have classes or anything else to do, so the snacks had been a big factor in getting him to actually leave his room, shh.

Well, Wes was always up for bragging about himself.

"My name is Wesley Wyndam-Pryce, I've had eleven years of training in all forms of combat and martial arts" -- not that that made him any good at most of it -- "and I'm particularly adept at fencing and marksmanship."

"Hi, I'm Leda. I've got training in hand to hand combat and fencing, I'm a very good shot with a throwing knife, and I've got a fair amount of experience with combat magic."

Once snacks and listening to people talk started to get boring, Wesley wandered over to Kennedy. Because she was so much more interesting, yes.

"Hello," he said. "How've you been?"

Oh, vague Council business would be so much better than the past few months he'd had, he could tell her that right now.

"No, it was -- much less interesting than that," he said, giving a little half-smile. "My father felt I should get some field experience, so I spent a few months in Los Angeles looking for demons to kill."

Looking for demons to kill. Not actually killing them. Sigh.

Wes laughed. "Yes, I rather expected that as well," he said. "Unfortunately, it's a rather large city, and actually locating paranormal activity was difficult in itself."

Also, he sucked at the whole killing-stuff part.

Zack wasn't hugging his coffee cup, per se.

It was only a near thing. He felt way more tired than he was willing to let himself look, today. But at least he was here, and as attentive as he'd ever been while people were talking.

"Shane Gooseman, Goose," Goose said, "most of my fighting experience comes from my military training but I'm also an expert shot and if you give me a blaster I'll shoot it regardless of what type,"

It was true. Being omnipresent was one of those skills that the Watchers' Academy hadn't dwelled much upon, but LA made it kind of necessary.

"Fortunately, yes," he said, grinning. "For you, of course."

Peaches?

Talking hands? Yeah, he was getting less and less disappointed to have missed this and more and more thankful for his little vacation, crappy as it was.

But aww, she'd bitched about him?

"Well, er," he said. "Thank you?"

C'mon, Wes. Kennedy bitched about everything. Not really that flattering.

"To some degree," Wes admitted, smiling. Whatever, she totally knew it. Top-secret piece of news that was totally secret: Wesley was not so good with concealing stuff.

"I'm sure if you found yourself in California in search of vampires and demons, you'd be at least moderately helpful," he added teasingly.

"I am Prince Alexander of Daventry," Alexander offered with a nod of his head. "My fighting experience is limited, but I have gone through a few years of training. I certainly would like to learn much more, though, as it will be incredibly useful to know how to fight, even if I much prefer to use my wits rather than my blade.
