Third Floor Common Room; Thursday Evening [ 04/14 ].

One could suppose that there were many things Alexander could be doing right now. He could be making sure all his dress tunics were in good condition if he wound up going to this prom event this weekend. He could be getting a head start on his examinations this weekend, especially all those languages that he'll never have to use again. He could be....sleeping.

But he was working once more on some maps. Rosella had pulled through for him and sent him some updated maps based on some recent exploration by Derek Karlavaegen, so it was time for Alexander to pour over them, study them carefully and look for any signs of suggestions that the Land of the Green Isles might be hidden somewhere in these new developments of cartography.

It was unlikely, he knew, but the chance had his heart beating faster with excitement, that maybe, just maybe, there might be something, some clue to him finding his Cassima...

He had brought his work with him to the common room, because that was a good way, he figured, to keep himself from being deemed a recluse. His mother couldn't argue that he wasn't at least trying to be social.

[[ home on a thursday and bored and dreading 13 hours of work tomorrow. OPEN COMMON ROOM IS OPEN! ]]

Bruce was on his way back to his room when he decided to see if there was any action going on in the common rooms. And that... was some kind of action.

"Still looking for the Green Isle?" Bruce asked. Call it a lucky guess.

"Hello, Alexander," Rilla said, popping her head, then the rest of her body, into the common room. "Oooh, is that an atlas? My brothers and sisters and I used to have such fun with an atlas."

This was what happened when you didn't have television.

Rilla waved at Bruce and smiled. "Do you have your dance tickets?"

"You're not asking me out, are you?" Bruce checked.

Alex wandered down to the common room, magazine in hand, in search of some coffee. Spotting Alexander, she smiled and offered him a small wave. "What have you go there?"

[identity profile] rilla-myrilla.livejournal.com 2011-04-15 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
"Of course not," Rilla stammered. "I'm a girl!"

[identity profile] willbethenight.livejournal.com 2011-04-15 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
"I don't think that's ever stopped anyone in Fandom before," Bruce asked.

"Well it should," Rilla said. "Boys ask girls. Everyone knows that."

William did not have maps. He did, however, have a similar desire to not be labeled as reclusive. And so here he was, actively seeking out social engagement.

"Evening, Alexander," he greeted his roommate, wandering over to take a closer look at what he was working on. "What have you here?"

[identity profile] willbethenight.livejournal.com 2011-04-15 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, chin up. You'll work it out eventually," Bruce said encouragingly.

[identity profile] rilla-myrilla.livejournal.com 2011-04-15 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
"Please," Rilla said enthusiastically, sitting down nearby. "What is different for you?"

[identity profile] rilla-myrilla.livejournal.com 2011-04-15 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
"Hello, Mr. Murdoch!" Rilla said, waving.

Rilla smiled at the girl she didn't really recognize. "Hello! Alexander has maps. I was going to make tea. Would you like a cup?"

[identity profile] faithandscience.livejournal.com 2011-04-15 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
"I'd hardly call it clutter," William countered with an amused smile. Mostly because his own portion of the room was, at any given point, home to no small number of bits and pieces of modern technology that had been disassembled in order that William might get a closer look at their inner workings. "Which means, of course, that I do not mind in the slightest. More research, then?"

[identity profile] willbethenight.livejournal.com 2011-04-15 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
"I don't know. I kind of like it when the girl is assertive," Bruce admitted. "But to answer your question, I only have a ticket for myself so far."

[identity profile] stylin-wizard.livejournal.com 2011-04-15 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
"I've seen maps of my world but it's not that exciting," Alex shrugged. "I'd love to see the ones you've got."

She was curious about other worlds, to see how they differed from hers. Something only Fandom could've provided.

"Miss Blythe," William beamed at her. How fortunate that he should see Rilla, when there was a question he very much wanted to ask her! "How are you this evening?"

That... was not the question he wanted to ask, precisely. But one couldn't merely blurt these things out. There were guidelines as to the proper flow of conversation and all.

[identity profile] stylin-wizard.livejournal.com 2011-04-15 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
"They're definitely something, aren't they?" Alex said, returning the smile in kind. "I'd love one, thank you." She'd originally come for coffee but she'd never pass up tea.

[identity profile] rilla-myrilla.livejournal.com 2011-04-15 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
Rilla stared at him. "But you're so good looking! You have a duty to ask someone to escort you!"
