Fifth Floor Common Room, Wednesday Afternoon

After his one class of the day, Jeremy thought he deserved a lazy afternoon. (Yes, despite the fact that he had barely done anything in said class. Shush, just be glad he chose to somehow rationalize his laziness today.) He got himself a bunch of food (mostly snacks) and soda and camped out on one of the common room couches, grabbing the remote and turning the TV on. The channel the TV turned itself on to didn't catch his interest, but no matter. He could just click-click-click his way to another channel.

About half a dozen clicks later, he was noticing a problem. Namely, that a children's show featuring pudgy fleece humanoid creature things with monitors in their bellies was on. On every channel. Every single one of them.

"... Uhh."

Jeremy got off the couch to try and smack the TV into behaving. The screen flickered once, but other than that it was no help. He tried turning it off. It refused to do that. "Aw, man." And he'd been so enamored with the idea of lazing in front of the TV all afternoon, too. He was already looking towards the doorway in the hopes that someone more technically-minded would come along and save him.

[ooc: IDEK, maybe the 5th floor TV set really hates rich kids or something? Open common room, entirely moddable Teletubbies!]

Squall wandered in and blinked in disbelief at the television.

"...Stimulating."

"Maybe it doesn't like you?" Squall suggested with a shrug.

"...That's not a joke, by the way. It's a realistic suggestion."

After dealing with freaking SARAH all morning, Jack decided it was best to put a few floors between himself and his room.

Seeing what was on tv he made a face. "You guys mind if I change the channel?" He asked politely. "Unless you're really into..."

Jack frowned at the teletubbies. "Damn. Those things are creepy.

After spending half her morning in the sea, Kate figured she was allowed an afternoon off training. It made her happy that her logic of the day allowed her to take off and find something or someone else to keep her busy.

Of course, holding to her own common room for that search was boring, besides... this was new and yes, she was looking a little entertained by his struggle as she wandered over. "Interesting choice."

Squall shrugged. "Does anything on this island need a reason?"

"They look like everything else on children's television to me," Squall told him.

Which meant, yes, creepy.

"It won't let you?" Jack asked in disbelief. "It's a tv!"

[identity profile] whateverknight.livejournal.com 2011-05-11 07:27 pm (UTC)(link)
"That's what I said."

[identity profile] exactlyaverage.livejournal.com 2011-05-11 07:36 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well that can't be good," Jack groaned. "Just turn it off and we'll find another tv to watch."

"There has to be a better excuse than that." Kate was unlikely to be any help at all in solving this dilemma. Television in her world rarely worked long enough for anything much more than the odd emergency bulletin, so getting stuck on channels... hardly an issue.

[identity profile] whateverknight.livejournal.com 2011-05-11 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
"The floor?"

...Although maybe Squall was the only person who did that for hours at a stretch.

[identity profile] withasword.livejournal.com 2011-05-11 07:39 pm (UTC)(link)
"What the hell are they even supposed to be?"

Teletubbies were a little before Kate's time. By twenty years or so. Besides, the apocalypse had likely wiped them off the face of the planet.

Thank god for small favors.

"Just saying, lacks originality." It didn't stop her from finding his struggles in vain highly amusing. "Next time? The remote got eaten by bears." Or something. It was just a suggestion.

[identity profile] whateverknight.livejournal.com 2011-05-11 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
"Interesting to young children?" Squall shrugged. "I don't think they're supposed to represent anything real."

"Way to train your kids. 'Here's a nice monster, run and hug it'." Kate rolled her eyes. Worst. Lesson. Ever.
