5th Floor Common Room: Monday Night [8-5-11]

Mercy was in a bit of a grumpy mood after having unsuccessfully attempted to avoid her mother's phone calls over the weekend. She really hadn't been in the mood to deal with Margi's interrogation about school or the guilt trip over not agreeing to go on their yearly summer vacation this summer.

She'd been polite and well-behaved and taken everything without complaint, since she'd already caused the family enough trouble. Still now, all she wanted was mindless television and spicy Chinese food - lots of it.

There was more Chinese food than you could shake a stick at and a choice of two police procedurals that she kept switching between. She couldn't decide if she liked the older silver haired man or the gorgeous bald black man better.

[OOC: Oh so very open!]

Rapunzel was drawn up to the fifth floor by the smell of food. Not because she was all that hungry, but because food, she had discovered, meant people. And people were all so interesting!

And they were often willing to explain some of the weird things she encountered around the island, which was very nice of them!

She walked into the common room, hair trailing across the floor behind her, making faces and giggling at the little chameleon perched on her shoulder.

"Chinese food?" Rapunzel asked curiously, her head swiveling toward the source of the smell. The chameleon's swiveled at precisely the same time, providing an odd moment of synchronicity.

"It does smell pretty good," Rapunzel admitted. But she still seemed a bit hesitant. Until the chameleon thumped her playfully on the chin. "Alright," she giggled in surrender. "Well have some Chinese food! If it'll make you happy."

She walked over to examine the containers, then stole a sidelong glance at Mercy, trying to see what she was eating.

"Oh! Would you really?" Mercy earned an impossibly large smile just for offering.

"Oh! And I'm Rapunzel. And this is Pascal!" The chameleon bobbed his head in agreement.

So many different options! How did anyone choose!?

Oh. Just... pick one. And try it.

Rapunzel could do that. She reached out and gingerly picked up a piece of ginger pork with her fingers. "It's kind of slippery," she said with a little titter.

"Oh, sorry!" Rapunzel said quickly, eyes widening in embarrassment. She quickly set the piece of meat down and looked for somewhere to wipe her fingers clean.

"I'm kind of new to this." Then it occurred to her that that was pretty obvious.

As she wiped her fingers clean on the napkin, Rapunzel nodded energetically. "I imagine it is." She took the fork and stabbed the piece of pork she'd picked up before.

She beamed over at Mercy. "Much easier!"

With an eager nod Rapunzel pushed the entire thing into her mouth and chewed energetically.

"Oh! It's good!" Which she probably would have said even if it hadn't been. It was best to be polite, after all. It helped that it really was good, though!

"Everything!" Rapunzel declared in excitement, stabbing at another container pretty much at random.

Rapunzel tried a few different things, chewing thoughtfully over each of them, but there were so many left! She couldn't work at such a leisurely pace. So soon she was stuffing two or three things into her mouth at one time.

"These are all really good!" she said. Or, at least, tried to say. It was hard to make the words clear with all the various bits of food stuffed into her mouth.

Even with that reassurance, or perhaps because of it, Rapunzel chewed rapidly and swallowed so that she could speak clearly again. "But now you're not eating any!" That wasn't fair! Rapunzel didn't want to eat all of Mercy's dinner!

"You're sure?" Rapunzel asked perhaps a bit too eagerly.

Rapunzel let out a little squeal of delight, then flushed and covered her mouth in embarrassment for a moment. But she was getting used to being embarrassed, so she recovered and grinned, sliding some more food onto an empty plate.

"So," she said with a grin, speaking between bites, "hi, Mercy! I haven't met you yet!"
