There were the usual ~~moddable~~ snacks and the jar for funds for future snacks on a table, but also, there was a bin of assorted trims and sewing notions, and even a few pieces of fabric, with a sign on it that read 'Free to a Good Home.'

"Hey, guys!" Petra said, sounding super-excited. "Next week is Halloween and we have the mixer with the frat and the sorority, so we'll be working on costumes this week so we'll all look fabulous." Which probably explained why she was sewing silver fringe onto a shirt. "I know everyone isn't as crafty as me, so I brought some stuff I'm not going to use and you can take anything that looks like it might be useful for your costume. And if you can't sew, you know, there's hem tape and superglue and safety pins, it's really just a matter of creativity and making do with what you have and your skillset." Petra sounded completely blase about this because, well, she was. In the absence of any better materials, by God she'd rip someone's ballgown apart and make thread out of it. "But if you hit a roadblock I'm here to help, and if you need second opinions I'm sure we'll all be happy to help you."

Mingle, nibble at snacks, poke through the free stuff. There's a high sparkle quotient.

"So what's everyone going as for Halloween?" Petra wanted to know. "I'm thinking space cowgirl, but that could change to Holly Golightly at any time."

"Do we have any club business we need to take care of? Related to the mixer or anything else?"

She's still working on that shirt, but that doesn't mean she's not eminently distractable.

FAIL, LJ. FAIL SO HARD.

Raven had some fruit as she eyed the sewing notions. She had absolutely no idea how to use any of them.

"I have not decided," Raven admitted, "though if my boyfriend is going to be here, I wish to wear something with leather pants."

And nothing with wings like she'd worn in a Halloween past.

Hanna glanced at some of the fabric, contemplating taking a piece. She couldn't sew or anything, she just thought it was pretty.

"I don't know, yet," Hanna said honestly. "I should really start thinking about that."

She was not going to dress up as any pop singers, though. That was so three years ago.

"Maybe a butterfly," Tara mused. "I just think it would be fun to have wings."

"Go Raven!" Kenzi cheered for her.

Mercy could sew. If only she could figure out what to be!

Kenzi was already playing with a bright red piece of fabric with bugle beads, tying it around her head, her neck, her wrist, her waist, trying to see where it would look best.

"Space cowgirl is cool," Kenzi had to admit, flopping down, thinking hard. "Vampire is overdone. And you just know the vampires around the island would laugh. Hmmmmm..." She started nibbling a cookie, considering.

Raven blushed at little at the cheering. "Do you have any thoughts what I could be with such a requirement?" she asked.

"If we're going to skip the stripper option--" Raven didn't seem like the type, but hey, who knew. "Superhero! Or like ~~meta for~~ Trinity in The Matrix. Or ooo, hey, that one adventurer chick, the archaeologist badass. Get some boots, some guns, do your hair in a braid, and your set. You kinda look like her already." What with the rack.

Raven's eyes widened at the "stripper" comment. Noooooo.

"I suppose if the guns were fake I could carry them," she murmured, though it might feel awkward. Then again -- pants. So she'd already be feeling awkward.

Braid she could do, but one more question. "What does she wear on top?" she asked, indicating that rack.

"Tank top, sometimes with a leather jacket," Kenzi lilted. "With the shoulder holsters." As a frame for said rack!

"I think I can find the clothing," Raven said, warming to the idea. "But where would I get these shoulder holsters?"

Unless it was some sort of weird term for "bra."

Kenzi had to think about that, then said, "That arms place in town-- they'd have it, right? And if you said it was for a costume, or you were using squirt guns, they wouldn't mind." She grinned. Fabric. Wow. George was ... entirely out of her element.

Like, amazingly. Ask her to do an interpretive dance or something and she'd be about as fucking lost.

"Last year I had a mask," George offered.

Yup.

"Most years I just go trick-or-treating so I can see into people's houses."

Help? Someone? Anyone?

IT WAS CULTURAL.

But Deadpool was there. And looking amazing in his costume.

Petra, unlike Kenzi, found this kind of...worrisome. "So your entire costume inspiration is 'look hot for my boyfriend?'"
