America's Next Top Model Tara Maclay -- in lingerie, full makeup, and tottering heels -- was posing along the edge of the roof.

It was cold on the roof, and a little high up, but that was okay. This was for art, or at least a Cover Girl contract. Tara smized and tooched her booty just that little bit more. She was not going to be the contestant who flamed out in the first shoot of the season.

"I've wanted to be a model ever since I was little," she told no one in particular during a break from filming. "And I know I can beat the other girls. The lesbian thing ... I don't want that to define me this cycle. You know? I want to be Tara, the really good model, not Tara, the gay girl." She fiddled with the straps of her negligee thing, as if all of this required considerable concentration. "At least, unless one of the other girls is into me."

And then it was time for her to get back to working it and being fierce.

Well, there was someone who was even more niche market than her. A god who inexplicably woke up as a woman this morning because he was destined to model.

"Hey," he---she said upon arriving in the model penthouse. AKA: the roof.

"Hi," Tara flirted. "Did you finish your shoot yet? Mr. Jay is so intense."

Or Tara was easily confused. Possibly both.

"He kept making these faces at me," Loki replied, biting her perfectly made up lip as she looked away. "I'm going to be cut for sure."

"You will not," Tara assured her, reaching to put a hand on Loki's shoulder. "You're way prettier than half the girls here. You totally have the high fashion look."

"Do you really think so?" she asked, sniffling in a pretty way somehow.

Eric was not out on the roof smizing for the cameras.

Eric was by the doorway, sniffling to a different set of cameras. "It's not fair, you know?" he said. "It's a medical condition. I can't go outside during the day. They should be more accommodating. I could sue for discrimination, you know."

"I know so, honey," Tara said firmly. "And you have to know it too. You don't want to get, y'know, called out at panel for not being confident."

"Oh, Tara!" Loki hugged her for all her all her support. "You're the best."

"I don't get any accommodations," Loki replied as the makeup artists took care of her look. "And I'm just as limited!"

There was a flash to her in the confessional, hair wrapped up to not spoil when it was filmed.

"Just because you have issues like 'bursting into flames in the daylight' doesn't make you any better than the rest of us!"

Stacey had spent a lot of time trying out her poses in the mirror, in full view of the other models. Which in an interview, meant, "I want to be America's Next Top Model. I want to be that girl who the other girls may not like, but when I'm out in front of the camera, I can make it my bitch."

She paused, looking a little sad. "I just hope they don't hate me for taking this seriously. But I need this."

And then she was back to working it in front of the mirror.

Tara sniffed as she went past Eric. She'd wanted to be the model who got bonus points for belonging to a cool minority, dammit.

"It's okay," she said, not sounding as if she meant it at all. "Maybe they'll let you through to next week on personality."

"Well, being stupid isn't legally protected," Eric shot back, then added, "bee-yotch."

Tara hugged Loki back and did not even cop a feel. "Just remember I'm in your corner."

At least, until Loki felt too much like competition.

Loki looked as though she might cry, but was staying strong for the cameras. "Is being a horrible person part of your 'condition'?"

And they had a blow out fight as soon as they went overseas, but made up right before the finale.

"I'm so glad I made friends here."

Flash to Loki in the confessional.

"I'm not here to make friends."

"They better," Eric said, "I'm fabulous."

In a confessional, he added, "I saw Tara's shoot. Girl could teach mannequins a few things about looking wooden."

"I'm not here to make friends," Eric retorted.

"We can tell!" Loki replied, causing the make up artists to sigh as they fixed the damage from all her crying.

Tara stood to the side, biting her lip a bit as she watched Stacey.

"Stacey's strong," she said in a confessional. "Way too intense sometimes ... but strong."

To Stacey, she said: "How's the signature walk coming?"

"Of course you are," Tara said, and went over to get some water.

In a confessional, she added, "I have no problem with vampires, I just don't get how Eric's going to model professionally with a sun allergy. Plus he's old. But whatever. I can be nice."

"I think I've got it," Stacey said confidently. So confident that it would probably take her halfway through the cycle before she started being told that being confident was her problem. "As long as I can make it through the next shoot, I think I'm safe."

"Loki, dollface!" Wes called, sauntering his way over across the roof. It was difficult in the platform shoes, but he was managing. "Oh, honey, oh, sweetie, no, your hair. Oh, sweetie."

"Tara, sweetie! Is everything all right?" She looked Distraught. As her ~~sassy gay~~ sympathetic hairdresser-slash-confidante, Wes was concerned.

Eric rolled his eyes. "I know Jesus loves me," he said in a confessional. "I didn't need any of these other people."

"Those heels looked tough to work," Eric added with faux-sympathy, "but they did really good things to your calves. Took five pounds off of them!"
