Fifth Floor Common Room, Wednesday night

Continuing on with his new tradition of making a point to take some time to actually enjoy being social, Bruce made his way out to the common room. The TV was already on cartoons when he walked in, though. Classic Looney Tunes.

Really, Bruce probably hadn't even seen any of these cartoons since he was eight, but he found it amazing how quickly he related to it. The villain was designated as such by his use of a gun. The hero used his wits, disguises, and bent laws (both civil and physical) to overcome this shady Fudd character. Even when Fudd declared his intention to stew Bugs, the rabbit got out of it by declaring himself a fricasseeing rabbit and demanded that Fudd produce a license for that. And it worked! Absolute brilliance.

Who knew that Bruce was missing out on lessons that could have been inspirational just because he had long ago declared cartoons childish and not worth his time?

Bruce made some popcorn and kept watching as the less intelligent but apparently near-invulnerable (judging by how little he was killed after being shot in the face repeatedly), glory-seeking duck started to poke his bill into matters. That wouldn't eventually define the early dynamic between Bruce and a future friend. Not at all.

[OOC: I've been in a Looney Tunes mood anyway, but let's call it WB corporate synergy. Open as a common room tends to be.]

"Hey, Bruce," Jack said cheerfully. "What's- Oooooo. Cartoons!"

You would never know that Jack was a clone of a forty-something man the way he flopped on the couch and snickered at Elmer and the duck.

This went up just as I'd opened the "post entry" window to write my own CR post. OH WELL NOW I DON'T HAVE TO COME UP WITH A POST SUBJECT.

"Oh man," Toby said, upon seeing what was playing. "I haven't seen any of these in forever."

Jack stopped in mid-guffaw/snort and tried to achieve some sort of decorum. And failed.

"Me? A kid? Uh. Something like that. What about you?"

Quinn claimed her Diet Coke from the fridge and flopped into a chair, squinting at the cartoons.

"I so need this," she informed anyone who cared to hear it. "I spent all day watching the hotel staff jumping everywhere. It got on my nerves."

"So why the change of pace?" Toby had to ask, naturally.

You mean like your childhood, Bruce?

"What? You never got up early on Saturday morning to watch cartoons?"

Quinn groaned, and would have thrown a pillow if she'd had one. "They kept pairing up and disappearing into the elevators," she shared. "Huge hairy plumbers, making out, in public. The jumping's easier to take."

Cartoons were just about Mercy's speed tonight - especially these old school ones. She smiled at Bruce as she went to make a cup of hot chocolate before settling down to watch. "How's it going?"

Mercy shrugged as she sipped at her hot chocolate. "Hanging in." She nodded towards the kitchen area. "Made some brownies earlier if you want some."

"Right now I'm definitely up for some mindless entertainment and these are just what I need. Think they'll show any with the coyote?"

Funny how she liked those.

"I'm not gonna turn down free food," Toby admitted. The lie was... noted, although he wasn't going to comment on it. If Bruce wanted to lie about his tendencies or lack thereof towards chuckling, that was his perogative. "And I can't argue with the logic there. Especially since it's one of the possibilities least likely to cause any arguments over the remote." Not that he'd actually seen any since coming here, but still. Some people had questionable taste in entertainment.

Mercy smiled at him. "Hey, haven't seen you for a while."

"I did," Quinn agreed. "Thank god. And now I just need to see what other insanity the hotel staff can manage in the next couple months."

She ruffled a hand through her hair and smiled at Bruce. "How are you? What have you been up to since we got back?"

"Ah. Reading," Jack said with a nod. "Back when I was a kid it was mostly comic books though."
