5th Floor Common Room, Sunday morning

"I see you're still around," Bruce noted when he spotted Terry in the common room eating a donut from an assorted box. Terry didn't buy them. They just happened to be there.

"There's free food," Terry said with a shrug. "Lots of stuff going on. Why would I leave?" Also, no GCPD chasing him.

"Because a portal called you back?" Bruce offered. "Clearly that hasn't happened yet." He assumed it had to be irresistible to any kids, otherwise some of them would probably end up stuck in Fandom, either due to boredom back home or their parents refusing to let go.

"Yeah, sure," Terry said with a roll of his eyes. "By the way, can I get some more money? I know you have it."

"Now that you've found the free food? I don't think so," Bruce said. "But there's always the chance you can earn some babysitting."

"Do I really look like the kind of person you'd trust with kids?" Terry asked.

"No, but I'll be watching out, just in case," Bruce said, taking a seat on the couch and putting some cartoons on the TV in case some smaller children wandered in. He figured he kind of owed this kid some supervision since he kept finding Bruce on these weekends. "I'm still not paying you, though."

"You have terrible taste in TV shows," Terry noted before going back to focusing on his donut.

[OOC: Yep, open!]

"You don't really strike me as a cartoon guy," Terry noted as the cartoons continued to air.

Rebecca (and her new shadow, apparently -- say hi to the kitty, Bruce!) made her way into the common room for some coffee, spotted Bruce and Terry, and paused.

"I see the plague of the weekend's got you," she observed. "Unfortunate."

Said the girl with a cat. Don't throw stones, Rebecca.

Terry didn't even need to run that burn under cold water. Shut up.

"They don't need cartoons. They just need you to hang around long enough," Terry said.

Oh snap.

"It just... showed up yesterday," Rebecca replied, watching it pounce onto a counter and then turning her attention back to Bruce. So far she was not a fan of this cat. "Who are his parents?"

See Rebecca. See Rebecca not speak directly to Terry.

Terry sighed loudly and went back to focusing on his very healthy breakfast.

"Huh," said Rebecca. She eyed Terry some more, trying to detect some resemblance to anyone she knew, and... didn't. "Way to go with the kidnapping, Fandom," she commented dryly.

"I guess," Rebecca said, dubiously watching the cat slip into one of the cabinets. "Well, he's not too awful, is he?"

Rebecca, he was right there.

"Good," Rebecca decided. "Good."

With that, she headed over to actually make that coffee she'd been hoping for, then turned. "Either of you want coffee?" Look, it was just polite.

Terry knew that the answer to that question when coming from a hot older girl said was, "Yes! I drink coffee all the time, you know."

It made him seem more mature.

"Suit yourself."

And Rebecca proceeded to make a big show of preparing the coffee that Terry was being denied. Because she was mean.

"So, cartoons and no coffee, huh?" she asked Bruce as she settled down on the couch. "Solid fake-parenting."

"Yep," Rebecca said, shrugging. Clearly the island's evil sense of humor didn't extend to torturing poor children with Rebecca's winning personality for an entire weekend. "I'm not particularly bothered. So not a kid person. And my roommate doesn't have any either, so now it's just a matter for avoiding any of the really obnoxious ones."

She eyed Terry.

"He doesn't seem to qualify." From what she'd seen, anyway.

Rebecca thought about that. "Yeah, you lucked out," she decided. "All things considered. Though I think I prefer the cat."

Of course she did.

"It was a close call," Rebecca assured him. "But in the end, there had to be a victor."

Pause.

"Maybe that's what I should call it."

[identity profile] zetabetabrat.livejournal.com 2012-04-01 07:11 pm (UTC)(link)
"Pretty sure, yeah," Rebecca confirmed. As sure as she was willing to be, anyway. "It's that or Pitt. Or just not caring enough to bother. One of those three."
