2nd Floor Common Room, Wednesday Evening

Watching television was always an interesting experience if you asked Loki. Tonight was no different as America's Next Top Model was on.

"I was far more attractive than any of these girls," Loki decided, settling in to watch them bad-mouth each other during the confessionals.

And he could walk better as either gender, thank you.

As if Butters would ever want to miss an episode of ANTM if he could help it! His mood was improved significantly more, too, when he found he and the bucket of popcorn under his arm had arrived successfully in the common room he preferred.

"Woo-hoo!" he said triumphantly. "Second floor! And the party's already started!"

Oh, it was him. "There's no party here," he assured Butters. "Unless, perhaps, you have brought those orange puffy snacks."

Cheetos, Loki. Cheetos.

"Um," Butters looked down at his popcorn with a sad, disappointed expression. Oh! If only he had grabbed the right snack!

"No," he admitted, hanging his head in shame. "But I did bring popcorn. Is that still okay?"

"...Popcorn is acceptable. But only if you bring me a Coke as well."

SHUT UP. HE DID WHAT HE WANTED.

"O-okay!" said Butters, all too easily, skipping over to the refrigerator. "I sure hope we have some; I bet soda goes pretty quick around here, especially now with Lent over and everything."

Goooood gooood. Serve him like a proper minion, Butters.

"Lent?"

"Well, sure!" said Butters. "Because everyone has to give up stuff that's bad for them during Lent, like soda pop and candy and pornography. But now that it's over, everyone can go back to it! But we lucked out, there's plenty in here! We've got regular Coke, and Diet Coke, and even Cherry Coke! Which one should I get?"

"Coke with cherry, I suppose," Loki replied. "Why must they give something up?"

"Because, well, you see," said Butters, carefully managing to grab two cans of soda while still balancing the popcorn under his arm, talking as he went to go offer the beverage to his friend, "there was this one time when Jesus Christ went on into the desert to pray and shake off all the evil temptations of the world because he knew he had to go and give up his life for our sins, and he wanted to meditate and talk to His Dad and all that stuff. He didn't have no food or water or nothing, all he had was mean old Satan standing around trying to pick on him and make fun of him and get him to stop all that praying, but Jesus, he wasn't going to let mean old Satan sway him into darkness, no sirree! And so now, forty days before Easter, all good Christians give up stuff to show that we can be strong like Jesus, too."

And then Butters dropped on the couch, giggling a little. "I thought everyone knew that."

"Hey," Tara said. "Want some candy? I think there are some leftover chocolate eggs somewhere."

"Oh, sure, yeah!" Butters's eyes lit up easily with the prospect of sweets. "Thanks! I'd sure love some! Chocolate eggs are, like, the fourth best thing about Easter!"

Tara grinned and passed the bag of candy over to him. "See, uh, now I want to know what the first three are."

"Well, that's easy!" Butters said brightly, reaching in for a (reasonable and moderate) handful of the candy. "Number three is spending time with your family. Number two is Easter mass! And number one is the resurrection of Jesus Christ, Our Lord and Savior. That's the best part, so that even dying for our sins couldn't stop him, and he still got to teach us how to be all good and kind, and have boxing matches with mean old Satan and have a talk show on public television, too!"

"Um." Tara wasn't quite sure what to say to that. "Yeah, I'm ... not that religious? But I guess the Jesus stuff is nice too."

Butters seemed to look a little sad about that. "Aww," he said, "but what's Easter without the Jesus part?"

For what it was worth, he did try to think about it. It was clear he was thinking very hard, too, but he just wound up shaking his head a little bit, because when you took out the Jesus, Easter was mostly just another Sunday.

"I...guess it's lot of candy really cheap on Monday," he offered hopefully.

"It is!" Tara said hopefully. "And .... the rebirth stuff is nice. Eggs. Rabbits. Easter is named after a, uh, Pagan goddess, so that's cool."

"Is it?" asked Butters, his head tilting, then he giggled a little. "I didn't know it was a name! I think that'd be a real pretty name, especially for a girl. That's nice of her to let us use it and all, and that Jesus didn't mind borrowing it. Probably since he's already got Christmas named after him, and he's pretty good about sharing."

"Candy! Thanks for sharing!" As one of Kenzi's hands plunged into the bucket he was holding.

Butters glared at Kenzi and her sticky fingers in his bucket, but the conversations so far had reminded him of the importance of the Easter spirit, so he let it slide this time.

"Of course," he said. "It wouldn't be nice if I didn't share my popcorn and everyhin'."

"And you are sweet," Kenzi said definitely, reaching up to mess up his hair. "That's why you're Candy. So who are we routing for this week?"

Butters sighed, letting Kenzi ruffle his hair, but looking very, very put off by it.

"I like the Irish girl," he said. "She's got a really cute accent! And Simone, 'cause her curves don't quit."

He then eyed Kenzi suspiciously. "What about you?"

"Kinda like Eboni, because she has to try not to be sexy." Kenzi grinned. "They never know how to stop. And Seymone's cool, I like her. AzMarie is too stuck on herself. Jeeeez." She sighed. "Damn them all for being so tall, though."

"Well, you gotta be tall if you wanna be a model," Butters pointed out. "Even the ginger who one the short season was still tall as some of the girls in the regular seasons."

"A career choice denied me," Kenzi said dramatically. "I could model! Clothes! Shoes! Walking away with samples!" Or anything left unattended! "...then again, getting up at 5AM."

"And models are only good if they go crazy after their famous," said Butters, giving a suffering look toward Ty-Ty on the screen. "They hate when they're crazy from the get-go."
