Fourth Floor Common Room | Friday Evening

Apparently it was some sort of a sin that Peeta had never had coffee or donuts before so he felt the need to rectify that. He had a little money to spend, spare change that his father had put aside from the bakery without his mother finding out. He had placed it all in a small leather pouch and snuck it into Peeta's suitcase, knowing Peeta wouldn't have accepted it any other way. Peeta had the intention of trying to find a job soon, feeling guilty about all the sitting around he had been doing since arriving here.

Right now though, he was gonna try donuts and coffee. He had the cashier at J,GOB help him pick out several types of donuts to try out and the barista at the Perk gave him a small caramel macchiato to try once he said he never had any sort of caffeinated beverage before. He brought the box and the cup back to the dorms because he didn't want the people that worked at J,GOB and the Perk to get offended if he didn't like the food.

He sat down on the coach and turned on the Food Network because it seemed like an appropriate channel to watch right now.

[Common room is open, of course]

Fawn peeked her head into the common room, wanting to escape from the brownie she had been given for class because it still freaked her out a little bit, and she smiled a little to see Peeta there.

"Not baking anything today?" she asked, coming in and finding a chair to sit in.

Fawn, despite herself, craned her neck to get a better look, to see if there were any more in there, and also to arch an inquisitive eyebrow at Peeta to see if he was sharing if they weren't already all gone. She had a soft spot for doughnuts.

"You should learn," she suggested. "Or maybe I'll learn, and I can teach you."

Fawn smiled and happily helped herself to a smaller one. "Thanks," she said, settling back with something that could have almost looked like contentment. "And, no, I don't. Not really. But it would be interesting to learn."

"That shouldn't be too hard, then," Fawn said with a smile. "Though I can see why a lot of people might mess that up. It just so happens I've got a lot of the patience. The measuring stuff right I think I can handle pretty well, too."

Fawn nodded a little, picking at her doughnut and eating it in small bites. "I think I'd definitely going to look it up," she said, and seemed to shift a little as though burying herself deeper in the chair as she got a bit nostalgic. Something about Peeta and the fact that he told her about the girl he gave the bread to made her want to share something back, even if that conversation had happened a little while ago.

"Sometimes my dad would get us doughnuts when we finished playing in the subways," she shared. "Mom usually doesn't let us have sugar, so I always think of those moments when I have one."

"Health concern," said Fawn, barely hiding a smirk. "That sugar was basically poison. At least, that's what she said was the reason..."

"That, and I don't think the life insurance policy on us was good enough that Dad would want to murder us all," Fawn said, and realized after the fact that she seemed to have a thing with mentioning murder. "He'd be pretty hard pressed explaining that away to Mom, too."

"I think I could be alright with death by doughnuts, though," Fawn had to admit, as she happily finished hers off. "On the list of ways to go out of this world, that seems like one of the more pleasant ones."
