Thelma Bates had gotten the hang of this whole 'going to school again' thing. Sure, it came with things such as mad goats, assignments involving angry fairy servants, and half the school being completely unaware of her existence for the most part.

She'd have to see if she could get Ella to send over that bottle of 'third eye opening' potion or whatever it was. Just enough so at least her roommate could see her, at least.

For now, however, she had her whiteboard nearby as she sat on the couch in the common room with a large bowl of popcorn again. She'd found a channel that was running a meta Charlie's Angels marathon, and she'd stick with that. While she liked the modern movies better, she didn't mind the old show one bit...

"I worry," Richie said as he walked in to the room, "that I'm going to start talking to any whiteboard I see and expecting it to respond. If there isn't a ghostie here, just pretend I didn't say anything."

If there isn't a ghost, Richie, there's nobody to hear you.

Thelma first replied by throwing a piece of popcorn at his head while she smirked. Then she reached for the whiteboard and wrote a message for him, then held it up.

'Well at least you're learning.'

"I've always been a quick study," Richie answered, reaching for the popcorn to toss it back before realizing he was going to have a really hard time aiming it. "How's it going?"

Thelma shrugged, but then wondered how she was supposed to convey that.

So she instead she wrote 'Well it's not easy being a ghost. But it's nice here.'

"Ghost thing probably kind of sucks, huh?"
Ya think, Richie?
"But this place is pretty cool most of the time."

Thelma huffed a laugh.

'Yes, being dead does have its drawbacks' she wrote.

"You're a smart one, Richie. A credit to your gender."

She was being sarcastic, of course.

"Sometimes I say really stupid things," Richie replied. "That was one. No upsides at all?"

'No weight gain.' was the first that Thelma had to admit was nice. 'No worries about accidentally hurting yourself, either.'

"And there's the whole business with being invisible, but that's sort of a weird thing to brag about, really," Thelma said mainly to herself.

"That's a pretty crappy trade-off," Richie said. "The invisible thing come in handy? Haunting people's got to be at least a little bit entertaining, right?"

"Well, yes," Thelma had to admit, as she wrote.

'Can be. Depending on the victim. Sometimes it feels mean, though.'

Which was true. Indiscriminate haunting could feel a wee bit like bullying.
