Main Campfire | Monday Evening
Flick was staying away from his bouncy castle. He hadn't slept in there yet and he wasn't planning on starting anytime soon. He'd go back to the dorms or he'd find a couch somewhere or he'd sleep on the ground.
But, dislike of sleeping arrangements aside, Flick didn't mind the campsite. He'd never been camping as a kid unless hiding out in a closet with Jude counted. Flick knew it didn't. His family wasn't one for rustic family vacations and he was guessing he'd missed out on some right of passage. Oh well. He'd grown up just fine.
Yeah, that was a joke.
It was too warm to build a fire but Flick was sitting against one of the logs anyway. With the sun going down, it was cooler than it had been, at least. It was comfortable and Flick had his eyes closed. During class today, they'd talked about seeking out silence and Flick was glad that it wasn't silent here.
He'd thought of Lucas earlier today and couldn't get the boy's ashen face out of his head. The silence would have made it worse. At least with the noise, he could get distracted momentarily and stop thinking about Lucas.

Also? He had s'mores fixings. For they were traditional when forced to sleep in bouncy castles.

That would make one of them! Flick was a joy.

Loki really ought to rectify that.
"I come bearing sugared foods." Which was a sort of fun.

"You just have those laying around or did you go out and buy them specifically because you knew we'd be camping?"

"But, the food and the bugs are probably the most normal thing about this place's idea of camping," he said, gesturing to the bouncy castles. "I don't even know what to make of this."

A beat.
"And it is better than sleeping on a rock."
no subject
Maybe.
"That mean you and your roommates are getting along? Telling stories and cuddling up at night to keep warm?"

"Tempestuous?" he repeated, raising an eyebrow. He was going to wonder about this now, Loki. "Sounds like it might be a tense situation for you there, buddy."

"Blames you for the death of his father," he repeated, letting that process. "Sounds like a great foundation for a relationship. Because it can only get better from there, right?"

"He is a good helper when my brother is a corgi," Loki admitted, opening a bag of marshmallows.

"Well, it sounds like you and he are a perfect match," Flick said, voice going dry again. "I bet that would be some aggressive cuddling if either of you ever got the urge. Lots of knees and elbows."
no subject
"A knife to my throat," Loki added sweetly.

It was magic, wasn't it?

The rest of him? Yeah, not so much.
"I'd almost wanna test your clever mind and sleeping habits by giving it a try but I think the school might frown on a test like that."

"...then it is for the best we do not injure the castles."

Well, then he'd probably get kicked out and his father would be pissed.
" -- maybe we'd get put up in a fancy hotel or something. Emergency lodging."
Wishful thinking.

"I'm sure they'd classify it as a team building exercise," Flick replied with a shake of his head. "Exercise your body while you learn how to work with others in a safe environment. Sounds positively awful."
