Fifth Floor Common Room, Saturday evening

Jessica had finally gotten bored of hanging out in her room. So she went back out into public, stationed herself on the couch, and used all of her skills and training to watch out for any sneaky mistletoe. And with that skill and training, there was now mistletoe hanging from the ceiling and a couple walls, held in place by some sort of thin cable-like thing. She kept this up for a little bit until she was reasonably confident that no more plants were going to bother, and then she went ahead and she ordered a victory pizza.

It was a veggie pizza because you know what? Screw you, plants. You were dinner.

Anyway, it was a festive time on the fifth floor. Just be out of there in an hour when the thin cable-like things disintegrated.

"Every time I come in here, you've made the room more interesting," Sia said, looking around from the doorway.

"I'm a decorator at heart," Jessica said. "A vengeful one. Try not to taunt the mistletoe, because they're just leashed right now, because I'm a jerk."

"I have absolutely zero desire to taunt them," Sia said immediately. "How long before it gets loose?"

"Fifty minutes or so," Jessica said. "Plenty of time for dinner."

"Are you sharing?" Sia asked, still looking a little warily at the mistletoe as she came in to take a seat.

"I'm not eating a whole pizza by myself unless I have to," Jessica said. "Eat up."

"Under what circumstances would you ever have to?" Sia wondered, reaching for a piece.

"Nobody else came along and I was hungry," Jessica said. "Actually, I'm pretty much always hungry. I've got a crazy metabolism." Thanks, powers!

"And who really needs leftovers?" asked Sia, who had a normal person metabolism.

"If anyone else really wanted it, they'd be here when it was fresh," Jessica said. "That's the way I look at it."

"And if they simply didn't know it was there?" she asked.

"That's no excuse. There's always food somewhere," Jessica answered.

"In that case I'm very glad I got here when I did." And she was going to bite into her pizza so Jessica couldn't take it back.

"So am I," Jessica said. "Especially since in 50 minutes you'd be getting swarmed by decorations."

"Yes, that, too. I will definitely be out of here by that time," Sia said. "Vitor's torn a few pieces of it to shreds already."

"It's nice to have some help there," Jessica said. "I got hit with it earlier before I knew what was happening. Fortunately, I remembered how to take care of it from last year."

"Do I want to know?" Sia asked. She'd probably outstubborn the mistletoe. Wait it out till midnight and win.

"You have to kiss someone. It helps if you're both stuck with the mistletoe, because then you're working toward a common goal and it's not as weird," Jessica said.

"But who did you have to kiss?" Sia wondered, because that seemed like a girltalk thing.

"Gert," Jessica said. "It seemed pretty awkward for her but, well, she was the one tied to the wall."

"That... seems like a backwards way for mistletoe to try and make you kiss someone," Sia frowned.

"I guess that one was going for damsel in distress thing. Somebody around here was bound to step up," Jessica said. "And it was right."

"I'm not sure I would have," Sia said thoughtfully. "I wouldn't want the mistletoe to think I'm letting it have too much power."

"I'm more the type to jump in and just do what needs to be done to help people, consequences be damned," Jessica said. "Plus, I showed the things who's boss eventually."

Sia glanced up at the mistletoe. "Well, obviously."

"I actually think it's pretty festive now," Jessica said. "So now that things are the way they are, I'm happy."

"For fifty minutes," Sia added.

"Like forty-five now," Jessica said. "But I think that makes it even more beautiful. Things are fleeting! Enjoy them while you can!"

"And eat quickly?" Sia said with a little smirk.

"Eat in a reasonable amount of time, but don't linger," Jessica suggested.

"Are you going to leave a note for anyone who comes in after we leave?" Sia wondered.

"By this time, I'm assuming that everyone's figured out that there's something going on," Jessica said. "So I wasn't planning on it."

"And I suppose they'll figure it out once they're covered in mistletoe," Sia said.

"And if not, they have a limited time before it's tomorrow," Jessica said. "They'll be fine."
