Second Floor Common Room, Thursday Evening
Sparkle was actually feeling pretty mellow, today. Even in Kenzi's class, when he'd gotten a couple of holes punched in his ears (and a hoop in his bottom lip, because just what Sparkle needed was a labret piercing, truly), he'd just kind of rolled with everything. The only thing that had kept him from being enabled into a new tattoo was the fact that he really couldn't afford one. He was still working on earning back the money he'd spent taking care of a kid for a month back when the island was going insane, and all.
So, he had a swollen bottom lip, because that sort of thing kind of happened when you punched a hole through part of your face. He also had a karate gi in his lap, and was going over the whole thing with a needle and thread, stitching rainbow fabric around the cuffs and trim and adding extra fasteners to the inside so that the thing wouldn't fly open if some crazy girl theoretically went out to fight crime or something while wearing it and got herself in a fistfight with some street thug somewhere.
You know, theoretically.
He also had the Cartoon Network on, because cartoons! Best day ever!
Heh... Sparrow smashed up the Ratmobile.
[OOC: Open common room is open! Sparkle's all kinds of chill, today. And watching whatever the Teen Titans Go meta is, because I decided he needed to be watching cartoons, and that was actually what was playing on Cartoon Network when I checked the schedule. New timeslot.]

"S' all pretty good," Sparkle decided, giving Sia a lazy smile and a wave hello with the hand that was holding the sewing needle. "I mean, if you like cartoons. Which I do. I like cartoons."
He liked everything. The world was a shiny place.
"It's superhero stuff, I think. Kind of dumbed down for little kids, but it had Ratguy getting high and laughing at fireworks with the Commissioner, so there's some more adult humour in there, too."
Which suited him just fiiiine.

In this case, a bunch of superdeformed superhero teenagers, beating up some bad guys using Ratguy's stolen crimefighting tools. As one does.
"I haven't sat down and watched cartoons in forever. Like, I don't usually get control of the TV, you know? And today seemed like a good day for... almost like nostalgia. I guess nostalgia requires more stuff I actually watched as a kid." There was a pause, and then Sparkle glanced Sia's way. "You've never watched them? Really?"

It was a lot to deal with. So imagine her relief when she found people on the second floor.
"Oh thank god, people," she cheered.

"I'd watch a lot of news back home," he offered. "I mean, it's Canada, so usually it's 'this is what's going on in that country we share a southern border with, and in other news it's goose season again so try not to hit them with your car.' But, like, world news? I'd always pay attention to that. I'd just watch their faces..." He shrugged his shoulders and looked back down at his sewing. "It's a good way to get to know the human race, you know? These real people out there all over the world, looking at the camera and even if you don't speak the same language, their faces always say something. Even if that something is just, 'I'm here.'"

It was clearly hoppin' tonight, with its few other people and some Flash-animated superhero show on the TV.

"It's a favour for a friend," he replied. "Walked in to see this sewing disaster going on, like, stitches all over the place, you know? There were actually staples holding some things together, so I offered to do it properly. The last thing anybody needs is a staple in the ass."
Probably. Then again, it was hard to tell if Sparkle actually meant that at the moment, given the extra piece of metal in his face today.

She'd say that even if he wasn't.

There might even be hugs!

Well, it had more food-related episodes, at least.

Of course, today he would be saying that even if she had come into the room wearing nothing but three strategically-placed slices of Kraft cheese.

"Thank you," she said, really pleased. "I really like putting myself together. It just makes me feel better when I feel like I look good."
Things Sia would never say if she wasn't a Care Bear.

Considering Jessica was the Queen of Dances that was actually true.

Sparkle chuckled a little, and nodded.
"I dress up sometimes too, you know? I mean, like, without the raccoon eyes and everything. And then usually I dance around and sing because you kind of have to do something when you're all dolled up, even if you don't have anywhere to go."

"Last I checked, it was the most popular show on this station," Sparkle offered. "I mean, there are a lot of superhero shows, they have this whole timeslot dedicated to them."
Sparkle never really took the time to watch it, but it was there!
"But kids like the young ones, you know? They can relate to them or something, I guess."

This would not happen.

Probably something less creepy than spider-powers.

A beat.
"Plus the clicky shoes are really fun."
[OOC: Sorry! I faceplanted on my laptop until four in the morning at around the same time I opened this tab last night!]

"I've always kind of wanted shapeshifting powers," he admitted. "You could get almost anywhere you wanted, and nobody would even notice you unless you wanted them to, you know? What would you pick?"
[OOC: Sorry! The siren call of sleep proved stronger than I.]
