Outside Kazakhstan yurt, Friday evening

Only a couple more days in the yurts! Hanna was back from feeding and playing with Velcro, who wasn't best pleased about being on his own. She had a campfire going, and was humming along to one of the songs on her player.

Also, there were marshmallows to roast.

Kathy ducked her head out of the yurt. She'd been trying to nap before heading out to Baltimore sometime after mindnight, but it was too hot to sleep. So when she heard someone singing, she gave up on singing and went out to see who was out there.

"Hey Hanna," she said, with a wave. "What're you listening to?"

Hanna took an earbud out, and the sounds of Waterloo floated out into the air. "ABBA? Have you heard of them?"

The Yurt hadn't really been bad, Ringo had to admit, but she was glad they wouldn't be out here much longer. She was a city girl at heart, and being away from the comforts of things like air conditioning was not high on her list of fun activities.

But at least she'd been with fun people!

"Hi!" she called, waving as she walked up.

"Hi Ringo," Hanna said, breaking off her singing for a moment to wave. "Would you like a marshamallow?"

"I would love a marshmallow," Ringo exclaimed. "Mind if I join you?" she asked, walking over to where Hanna was seated.

"Not at all." Hanna handed over a nicely roasted one, and put another towards the fire. "I think I will miss this. A little. But I would rather have my own yurt to myself."

Ringo juggled the marshmallow in her hands, letting it cool off a bit. She giggled. "Really? Because all I want is air conditioning again." She reached up and wiped the back of her hand across her forehead as if there was sweat there.

"I think I like the heat," Hanna confided. "But then, when you grow up in Finland..." Yes, heat was not a thing you had much of there. "But I miss Velcro. And my privacy. But perhaps I will build a tent on the dorm roof."

That class with Hardison had made that seem possible!

"Of course!" Kathy said, smiling. This was definitely worth coming out of the yurt for. "I mean, Dancing Girl is iconic. But I've always been a huge fan of Winner Takes it All."

"Dancing Girl I have heard, the other I have not," Hanna admitted. "But I am only partway through this download. Lottie made several recommendations of music to me - this was not among it - but I have also been purchasing random albums off the computer." She paused and added, "I am trying to catch up."

"Oh, I don't mind the heat, I just like to be able to decide when I'm done with it." Ringo grinned, fanning at herself with her hand. "Though a tent on the roof might work for that. You could always come back inside whenever you want."

"Very true. And to watch Dancing With the Stars." Hanna might have become a little addicted to that. "We should go Air Trekking again, when we are back in the dorms, with easy access showers."

"We should!" As if Ringo was going to give any other response.

"Because it's kinda inconvenient showering all the time out here," she griped. It wasn't like she was going to give up daily runs or anything.

"Hey, Ringo!" Kathy called from where she was lounging on the other side of the fire. "There's a toll to come hang out with us--you have to sing before you can sit down."

"Yes. And the beach is fine for cooling off, but it is not as if one can take soap and have a private bath there." Hanna made a face. "I am working at the post office now, on Monday. But perhaps Tuesday?"

"The post office?" That was kind of interesting. "How come?"

Ringo beamed. "Any day you want!" Every day, even!

"Kathy!"

Then Ringo stilled and blinked. "I, um, don't know what to--" Wait a minute! "You're teasing!" She laughed. "Just for that, maybe I will sing. That'd teach you!"

"Money, for the most part," Hanna admitted. "And to have some job experience on paper, which I do not have."

And to avoid becoming an international courier/assassin.

"Oh. I suppose that makes sense. Does it pay well?" Ringo should probably look into something like that. She could use some spending money. AirTrek she could get from home, but dresses and stuff?

"Hang on," she said, darting back into the yurt to grab her music player and bring it out to Hanna, scrolling through her music. It was a good thing she was so organized, with the vast amount of music she had. "Wanna listen?" she offered.

"Fairly well, yes. Especially since my food and shelter are provided for, and people have been kind and helped me get cheap clothes and things." She paused and added, "And I need to start to save money, for when I graduate." She could steal it, maybe, but... that way lead to problems.

"Go ahead!" Kathy dared, laughing. "We were already singing Abba! I'm waiting to see if anyone comes out and yells at us for it."

"Graduation, huh?" Ringo shook her head. "I've never thought that far ahead." Or, when she had, she hadn't imagined that the world would have changed as much as it had back home. That she wouldn't be needed to lead Sleeping Forest.

"Yes, please. You can listen to mine, if you wish?" Hanna offered in return, and started to smile and sing along when she heard it.

"There is no one to think of it for me," Hanna said, face expressionless. "And I do not know if I should go back to my world. So. I should start now."
