Third Floor Common Room, Friday Night

Valentine's Day was for lovers. Avoiding Valentine's Day was for bitter, bitter exes. That was Velma right now. If she wanted to, she could give an accurate count of the days between today and the day she'd read the article where she'd discovered Aaron had thrown her over for Yelena. She didn't want to, but she could.

Her two choices for the night were attend the dance or stay hidden in her room. Again. The dance was not going to happen and she was starting to feel pathetic with all the time she stayed in her room, so she compromised. She'd watch horror movies in the common room. That had the potential to be social. Maybe other people were avoiding the dance, too, and she could meet someone. Anyone. That would still be better than pretty much every night from the beginning of the semester till now.

Velma had a big bowl of Cheetos, a Death on a Fence marathon, and a decent TV to watch it on. The only thing she lacked for a perfect night was a bottle of Diet Dr. Pepper to wash the Cheetos down with, but she'd left her bottle in her room and she didn't want to go back and--

There was a tug on her pants. Looking down, she saw a stuffed rabbit standing by her feet, the two litre of soda set down next to it. "Thanks," she said, patting the cushion next to her. "Grab me a glass and you can join me for the movie."
