The roof, Friday afternoon
Mae didn't really feel like going into town today, but that wasn't going to stop her from getting a nice bird's-eye view of things from the roof of the dorms. It was pretty nice up here, if maybe a little weird that it was accessible the normal way. She sat by the garden, looking out over the town and the preserve, and flipped through her journal.
There was some weird shit in that journal, these days. She was going to have to make a dummy one if Dr. Hank ever insisted on getting to look through it.
A post card fell out from between two pages, and Mae kicked herself a little for having forgotten to write back for so long. She thought for a moment, then scribbled a doodle of one of the old murals from back home on a ripped out journal page, before turning it over to write on the back.
"Oh my god," she said, reading over what she'd written (was that how you spelled "weird"?). "I'm so bad at letter writing." Her ears twitched as she tucked the letter back into her journal for safekeeping. "Astrid's gonna love it. I wonder how easy it is to steal a stamp?"
