Third Floor Common Room; Monday Morning [01/04].

Well, Wayne hadn't really gotten much of a chance to get the word out about Monday Morning Breakfast to any of the new kids, but, fuck, there were only four of them, and where word of mouth failed, it seemed this place had a good habit of spreading word of nose once things really got cooking. And he felt much less crunched for time now that he didn't have a first period class (or any class on Mondays, fuck!), so he coudl really enjoy just a good solid morning full of making food and feeding friends.

With it being the first MMB of the semester, he stuck with all the usual, often moddable classics, especially the pancakes and the bacon and the eggs and potatoes, but also some fruit for more healthfully minded, plenty of juice and milk in the fridge, and, of course, some good fucking coffee in the pot.

It was, after all, the most important meal of the day, especially when that day was Monday!

“Oh. Something smells wonderful!” Enola exclaimed as she entered the common area. “Is this for everyone or is there members only breakfast club here of some sort?”

And then she blinked remembering her manners. “I’m sorry. So rude of me. I am Enola Holmes.”

"Well," said Wayne, "do I look like fucking Molly Ringwald to you?"

But, that said, he looked up from his pancakes to preen slightly over this newly established, maybe-not-so-elite breakfast club.

"Only requirement fer membership," he declared staunchly, "is bein' a students here, and, even then, we'd be likeleh to consider exceptions!"

Then his head turned from the mystery spot in the far distance he'd been staring off into to the new face, and he nodded. "Enola," he greeted. "M'Wayne. How are ya now?"

"Goooooooooood moooooooooorniiiiiiiiiiiiiing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Someone was excited for her class tonight. And the start of the new semester. And, like, had really just woken up in a good mood.

Guess who.

Was it Miss Dozy? Sir Foomy? This pancake Wayne was flipping?

"Nina." She got, of course, the usual nod. "How are ya now?"

Well. That was a little vulgar but Enola was not about to turn down a well cooked breakfast. “I’m afraid I’m not aware of this Molly Ringwald but I will assume you do not resemble each other in the slightest,” she replied cheerfully as she started a cup of tea. “Is this something that occurs everyday?”

Elli was not nearly as exuberant as Nina though she smiled upon hearing the other girl's excitement for the day.

She wandered into the common room.

"Good morning, Wayne!" she said brightly.

It was definitely the pancake.

"I'm wonderful!!!!!!!!" she gushed, bouncing a little. "And you?????????"

It was hard not to add extra words but, like, traditions had to be observed.

A whole new batch of students meant a whole new round of people making Wayne grumble and wince over greetings not gone proper, but at least it was something he was familiar with by now...

"Just a Monday tradition," he declared, once he managed to squint away the discomfort of a mostly unanswered how are ya now, "currentleh, though there's usually no lack of food in here throughout the rest of the week."

He considered Enola again.

"Fix you up a plate?"

Y'wanna know what, though? That was good enough! It was a helluva lot closer than most people got around here, anyway, and, really, the occasional flair to suit a situation was more'n acceptable, especially to drive home a point.

So it was with confidence and comfort that Wayne plowed on with a bold, "Not so bad!" followed, of course, by a "Fix you up a plate?"

No one needed anyone to be even remoteleh as exuberant as Nina was, anywhey.

"Elli!" The greeting came with Wayne's own brand of exuberance, which meant there was slightly more cheerful intonation in the gruff greeting than there may have otherwise had been. "How are ya now?"

Without a first period class on her schedule this semester (and thank god for that; she was going to scream if she wound up in another creative writing class where the specter of her mother's ire would be looming over her the whole time), Astrid was a little excited to maybe make it up to Monday Morning Breakfasts again despite the almost certain ensuing SP.

"Morning, everyone," she greeted the room as a whole with a soft smile before making her way over to grab something to drink first.

"Yes, please," she sad, beaming. "And, like, can I get an extra pancake this week???????? I've been dreaming of pancakes since the picnic!!!!!!!!"

And, sure, Nina could've made her own but that wasn't the same...

"I'm well, thank you!" she said, with a soft laugh. "And yourself?"

Oof. Swing and a miss! But she did seem to get at least a little tap on the ball there.

"Not so bad!" Wayne replied dutifully after the slightest twitch of his head, focusing instead on the task at hand. "Fix you up a plate?"

"Astrid!" It was good to see her pop 'round again, but, really, Wayne was glad to see anyone pop 'round for MMB, and it was practically tradition that people returned out of the woodwork at the beginning of a new semester fer a bit, too. "How are ya now?"

And Wayne almost said as much, but he wasn't so dense as to miss that fer the compliment he was pretty sure it was meant to be.

"As many pancakes as you'd like," he assured her, though there was one more than his usual plate-fixin' contained for her before he passed it on over. "Suspect you'll likeleh be needin' it to get you through yer class later..."

Nor was he so dense as to not be aware of what would be first and foremost on Nina's mind fer today, either.

"That would be lovely, please." Elli's smile widened. "Did you have a nice time back home?"

Good boy, Wayne. It had definitely been a compliment!

"I'm so excited!!!!!!!!!!!" she said, taking the plate with a bright 'thanks!!!!!!!' and hopping on over to the fridge for a glass of orange juice. "Are you still coming???????????"

"Can confirm!" Wayne reported with pride. "There's no place like home fer the holidays!"

And, with that, and the expertise at which Wayne could now sufficiently fix a plate, Elli had a breakfast handed on over to her.

"How was yours?"

"Oh, thank you!" Taking the plate with another smile, Elli had to agree with him. "And there really isn't anything like home for holidays, is there? Watching fireworks for the New Year anywhere else just isn't the same anywhere else."

"Happy New Year, Astrid!" Elli greeted cheerfully. "And good morning as well!"

"That would be lovely, thank you so much," Enola said happily. "And I apologize as I ignored your previous question."

Hopefully it was a question as it mostly sounded like words mashed together into what was possibly an interrogative.

"I am fine, thank you. Being at a school is relatively new for me. Being at a school over a hundred years in the future is a bit of a challenge but I am convinced I am up to it."

Ooo. Was that bacon?

Well, Enola was already familiar with that voice and volume.

"Good morning, Nina," Enola said cheerfully behind her cup of tea. "You seem rather chipper today."

"Hello!" Enola said getting up to introduce herself. "I am Enola Holmes. Brand new student from another time period. And you are?"

"Good morning," Enola responded. "How are you? My name is Enola Holmes. New to the school."
