Dorm Room 229- Tuesday Afternoon

Kurt was having a nice relaxing afternoon after his two classes that day. He had just gotten the information about the school trip coming up and he was excitedly looking over a few of the pamphlets and stuff he had handwavely gotten the other day.

And so there he was, relaxing in the hammock hanging in the corner of the room as he looked up more information on his phone, his excitement for the coming trip only growing by the minute. This was going to be an awesome trip! Would probably make Logan and Scott a bit jealous... though he did wish Storm could come because that would be amazing!

As it was he sent off a few texts back home to let them know about the trip and the cool things that they had planned for it.

There was a big part of Libby that sort of wanted to just put all of last weekend behind her and forget about it entirely, but...well, she really hadn't expected to have recieved all those flowers on Monday, and, even though she wouldn't have known to do so in a million years because it was definitely not something her family celebrated or really even acknowledged, she felt really bad that she hadn't done the same for the others who had thought about her. Which was why there had been a trip to the flower shop, and in addition to adding even more colorful carnations to her own room to compliment the ones Vi had gotten, there were some roses that needed to find their way to their respective recipients.

Luckily, two of those recipients could be found in the same place! Which made things a little easier and, maybe, hopefully, just a little less awkward, too.

So she made the very, very short trip over to 229 and knocked on the door, hoping that at least one of them were in.

"Hey Libby!" Kurt greeted her with a big grin when he opened the door and saw her there. "Great to see you! Come on in."

There might have been a little part of Kurt that wanted to ask if she had gotten the flowers he had sent. But it seemed a bit rude to ask about that right off the bat.

Guillermo was also looking forward to the school trip and the fact that it was also going to be his first time out of the country and it was going to be in Africa.

He didn’t have any classes today and had been mostly hanging out in his and Kurt’s room , which was a good thing because he had definitely eaten way too much food last night at Dr. Lecter’s.

“The school trip’s going to be awesome isn’t it,” he grinned from where he was laying on his bed, he hadn’t really moved from that position all day.

"Oh." Libby blinked for a moment, only just now realizing the hidden flaw in her plan, the one that meant that she would potentially be entering a boys' bedroom, but she quickly told herself that it was fine, it probably wouldn't be a very long visit, and she'd been in Just and Val's room plenty of times, really, she just had to think of it like that. "Thank you. I....I won't bother you for too long, Kurt. I just wanted to thank you for getting me those flowers on Monday, and to give you these." She held out for him three white roses bundled together with a light blue ribbon. "I'm sorry they're late, I don't really know much about this kind of thing.

"I have some for Guillermo, too," she added, indicating the other three white roses she had, those with a light green ribbon. "If I could just leave them here for him?"

And with that out, Libby was now going to focus on not giving into the urge to curiously look around the room a little more to see how boys who weren't her brothers kept their room, and that was not an easy task at all.

"It is! I haven't ever been to Africa before!" Kurt said with a grin and an enthusiastic nod. "I've also never been at a school where they send you off on this kind of a trip before! I mean, the Professor sends us off on missions all over the place... but that's really not the same thing" Kurt said, making a slight face remembering some of the missions he had been sent on so far.

"Oh Libby, these are beautiful! Thank you! " Kurt said as he took the small bundle from her. "You didn't have to, but thank you. And I am glad you got the flowers" he said with a somewhat shy smile.

And as he got something to put the flowers in he called out over his shoulder back to Libby. "The whole flower thing is a bit new to me too really. We had a similar tradition back home but its not something we do anything official for back at the Academy."

And as Kurt worked on getting the flowers set up, Libby would have been treated to the view of what two geeky nerdy boy's room would look like. Posters all over the walls, a game console set up by the TV, shelves with collectables and various things, a small book case against one wall. a mini fridge in the corner, and unfortunately a good sized pile of laundry piling up under the hammock on Kurt's side of the room.

That pile of laundry was definitely making Libby twitch a little, and Kurt busying himself with taking care of the flowers right away was not making it any easier for Libby to try and be discrete right now. It was a bit like it had been with Vi and her postcards, only instead of it being just a small section of a wall, it was all around her, that curious temptation to just soak it all in. Of course, it wasn't quite the same as Vi's postcards, probably, although it was entirely possible that among all the details, the books, the collectables, the video games, there could be...

...and would you look at that, what an absolutely intering ceiling you boys had! Libby was absolutely fascinated by it all of a sudden.

"I guess it is kind of nice, though," she mused idly. "Getting flowers for people you care about. I've got some for Jo, too, and Vi, she got a nice collection of colorful ones, to brighten up the room a little, and I thought that was particularly nice, so our room's just about covered in 'em now."

"Yeah the flowers are nice and from what I've heard the ones here in Fandom seem to last longer than regular ones so there's that too to enjoy" Kurt said as he turned back around after getting the flowers set up in an old bottle he found to use for the time being.

He turned and gave Libby a smile. "Thanks again for the flowers, they really do brighten up the place" he said looking around at the couple other splashes of colors the other flowers he and Guillermo had gotten gave to the room. "Would..." Kurt paused for a moment before continuing. "Would you like to come and sit down?"

There was a small table and a few chairs, the bean bag chairs by the TV, and well the hammock... but he had a feeling Libby wouldn't be up for sitting that close. He knew she wasn't very comfortable around the boys for some reason. He didnt understand it but he respected her and didn't want to push or make her uncomfortable.

Well, when almost the entirety of your exposure to the male species was limited to three people you were related to, and that all came with a big heaping dose of warnings about how that was for her own good...

Forget sitting too close, Libby was pretty sure she shouldn't be sitting at all, and since she'd already done what she'd come over for, she felt she'd officially overstayed her welcome and the limits of common decency.

"Oh," she said, already starting to shake her head and look apologetic, "no, I...should probably just get going. I just wanted to make sure you got those flowers, and I have a ton of homework from the clinic to get through still, anyway..."

"Ah, right. Probably should be getting to my own homework too..." yes Kurt you totally should seeing as you had eight classes total to keep up with. " Thanks again for the flowers! It was good seeing you too. Come by any time you want too, ok?"

Libby nodded, pretty sure she wasn't about to take Kurt up on that offer any time soon, but she smiled a little as she said, "Sure. I'll keep that in mind. Not like it's all that far to go or anything, right?"

There was a small laugh, as she tried not to be too awkward in backing up toward the door. "Okay," she said, lifting her hand a little small wave. "Bye."

And then turned and tried her best to not seem too hurried as she escaped back out into the safety of the hallway, where she would just take a moment with her palm on her face and a sigh before heading back to her own room.

“Neither have I , actually I’ve never even left the country before,” Guillermo grinned, “and I can’t believe my first overseas trip is to Africa,” Guillermo grinned. “I’ve definitely never been on a school trip like this before,”

"Flying can be a lot of fun, though I am not sure we are going that route" Kurt admitted. "I've heard some of the other students and teachers

"I've heard some of the other students and teachers <s<handwavely</s> talking about the trip and mentioning something about heading out form Portal City or something so that will be interesting. Wonder how similar it is to my kind of porting?" Kurt pondered for a moment before turning to give Guillermo a quick wink. "Regardless it's gonna be fun!"

“Oh I did wonder if we had a special way of getting there,” Guillermo said, “I don’t even have a passport so I didn’t know how they was going to get us there but going through a portal makes sense,” he grinned, “like when we went to Miami for class the other week,”

"Yeah, probably. Guess they could either have several portal stops like you do with layovers for flying" Kurt reasoned. "Those portals seem to be powered by magic or something else. But I know for me, there's a limit to what you can travel for distance so it could go either way. Either way, it is going to be an exciting time, and I am so looking forward to it!"

“It will be interesting to see how they arrange for us to get there,” Guillermo nodded, “I mean Africa’s pretty far to travel to right?” he said, “maybe they do need a layover of some kind,” he paused, “It’ll be a great adventure that’s for sure,” he grinned, “I never thought I’d be getting to travel to Africa of all places when I came here,”

"I can't wait to see all the different animals!" Kurt said with a grin, huge animal lover that he was. "I mean can you imagine seeing a lion or a hyena or a rhino up close??? That would be so cool! I am going to make sure I have backup space for my camera that's for sure!"

“I know! It’ll be so cool,” Guillermo grinned, “I’m going to have to go and get a camera for the trip and everything ,” he paused, “do you have any recommendations for a camera?” he asked, Kurt was the only person he knew who was in to photography so he figured he at least knew more about cameras than he did.

Kurt thought for a moment. "I really only have experience with the camera I got on loan for the photography class." He pondered for a minute more and then gave a decisive nod. "I think we should both get new cameras for the trip. I'd hate to have something happen to the one that is on loan for the class. And that way, it will be my camera and I can do what I want without worrying so much about that sort of thing."

“I think that sounds like a great plan,” Guillermo nodded, “there’s a photo store in town right?shameless self promotion maybe we can try there?”

"Yup! The Photo Hut!" Kurt said with a grin. "I've been there before. Liz was really nice and helpful. I'm sure she would help us get something just perfect for the trip!" (non self-promotion also for the win)

“Oh cool,” Guillermo grinned, “that will make it easier for sure, especially since I don’t really know anything about the newer cameras,” he nodded, “but we can go and check it out later this week before the trip and see what she says, since I’m sure there’ll be other trips we can take the cameras to,” he wasn’t sure how the school was going to top Africa but he was sure the trips were going to be better than his last school at least.

"Will add it to the to-do list before the trip!" Kurt said, holding up the note pad he had just jotted a few things down on. And at the top of the page was "get new cameras from Liz" so they were well on their way!
