Third Floor Common Room, Tuesday Evening
It really had only been weeks since Jason had found himself with things like friends and a purpose in life. So, yeah, he'd been pretty resentful of the fact that he was suddenly being shipped off to the other side of the country. Had been prepared to hate it here, in fact.
And what he was finding was... it really wasn't so bad. Actually, he was kind of enjoying himself. He was also enjoying the free pizza that had arrived in the common room shortly after he had wandered in and started flipping through channels. He'd tried to explain to the delivery guy that it wasn't his, but the guy had just shrugged and left all the pizza there. "This kinda thing happens a lot," was all he'd said. "Don't worry about it. It's in the budget."
So he had free pizza and a movie called Pirates: A Fight Dance Story. He wasn't really sure if there was a plot beyond the amazingly choreographed fight/dance numbers, but it was oddly entertaining in its own way.

Though apparently introductions could come second.

Because Rhys was bad at socializing.

"Oh my god, it burned the roof of my mouth," he whined, not really pausing other than to swallow and say, "I'm Rhys. Were you also kidnapped to come here?"

"Rhys. No trampoline parties yet."
She sounded very disappointed. Forget that it had been, what, four days?

"That'll let you off the hook this time," she said. "But there's pizza, so I'm happy. And, if I'm remembering right, it's not a real party without glitter, anyway."

"You know," she said, slowly, thoughtfully, tapping her chin, "that's not a bad idea. You know, to celebrate surviving the first week. Where would you say is the best place to have it? Should I do flyers? Would flyers be weird? Maybe word of mouth would be better, but what would be the best way to get that started if I don't really know anyone? The spy squirrels, maybe?"
Look at what you did, Rhys. This is all on you.

not reallylead her to believe it would be. Sure, it had only been a few days, and her last months at home hadn't been much better, but when you lived with someone like Rick Sanchez, you got used to things being full tilt interesting almost all the time. And nothing much seemed to be happening on her floor, so she thought she'd explore the other floors of the dorms and see if anything more interesting was going on there. And she found at least a person, so that was a start. She wandered in without even really looking up from her phone, heading toward the couch, and having a seat. "Hey, what's going on in here?" she asked, without really looking up until she took a breath. "Mmm, is that pizza?"
A glance up confirmed it was pizza. And that she recognized the person in the room. "Oh, hey, Jason, right?"

But she had enough manners to swallow the bite she took before asking, "How's your Fandom Experience so far, Fellow Newbie?"

If it was, it was a very strange one.

"Something smells . . ." She sniffed at the air a few more times as she walked in. "Pretty good, actually."
She looked at the stack of pizza, and then at her roommate. "How hungry were you? Also, what is that?"
They were still a few decades away from being able to get volus to deliver pizza on the Citadel, so guess who got to try a totally new food first?

She pulled up her omni-tool to run a quick diagnostic on the pizzas, because while she was curious she didn't particularly feel like eating something that would make her sick, unlike certain science officers she didn't know yet.
And then proceeded to help herself to a slice each from four different kinds of pizza, starting with one piled with at least five different kinds of meats.
"Okay," she said after the first couple of bites. "That's pretty good. But why did you get all of this? Not that I'm complaining."

"Hi there," Peebee said, waving at her with the hand that wasn't holding a slice of cheesy goodness topped within an inch of its life. "So, food brings people together on this planet too, huh?"

And, yes, Summer realized in that moment that perhaps more clearly alien students might make it easier to pinpoint where the Galactic Federation prison might be. She doubted any of her fellow Earthlings would be helpful there, so she had to get in good with some more...otherworldly types.

She sounded like she kind of liked that about it.
"Well, I was raised to believe I was the heir to a massive corporate conglomerate on Illium, but the truth is, I was born to humble parentage on Hyetiana, and --"
She made an exaggerated show of falling asleep midsentence, then "awoke" again, abruptly.
"It's not even interesting when I make most of that up. You wouldn't happen to know where Citadel space is relative to this system, would you?"
