Room #407 - [livejournal.com profile] chosenslayer_ and<user site="livejournal.com" user=

Sam returned to her room after range practise and found Buffy fast asleep on her bed. A note lay on the bed, and she picked it up and read it.

On one hand, the note said to wake her roommate. On the other, her roommate really looked like she could do with the nap.

Sam figured she'd compromise. She'd clean up the guns and get them packed away, then wake Buffy and talk.

Buffy had heard Sam come in and she rolled onto her side before sitting up. She watched Sam cleaning her guns and then yawned. She ran her hands through her hair.

"Hey, Sam," she finally said.

Sam glanced up. "Hey Buffy. Sorry I didn't wake you. You looked like you could do with the sleep."

She eyed the other girl. "What's up?"

Buffy sat up and drew her knees to her chin.

"You know how I told you about vampires and such? Well, we have the worst vampire of all living across the hall from us. His name is Angelus...and he used to be my boyfriend, Angel."

Sam paused in the middle of her cleaning. Then she continued, rubbing the cloth over the gunmetal slowly and thoughtfully.

"Angelus is a vampire?" She frowned to herself. "That explains a few things." Then again, she'd heard some odd rumours through the day, bits and pieces of conversation floating through the air.

"So is there any connection between the change of names - Angelus and Angel?"

"Angel had a soul...Angelus does not. Angelus revels in his lack of a soul and his ability to manipulate people into believing he's unfairly mistrusted. Angel was a vampire and when he lost his soul...he became Angelus."

"You dated a vampire?" Sam blinks. "Aren't they all evil?"

Buffy looked at Sam, her eyes begging for understanding.

"That's what I thought. But Angel...he was different. He had a soul. He hated everything he had done and was trying to atone for it. He saved my life, more than once."

Sam held up her hands. "All right. So he was...a good vampire." She made a face. This was going to take a bit more detail than she thought. "And now he's a bad vampire and he's living across the corridor from us?"

Sam took a deep breath. "Okay, so...what stops vampires? You said he was out to get you and might try to get at you through me. That means my life is on the line. And I generally like my life."

There was a pause while Sam thought over what she knew about vampires. "How do they turn other people into vampires? Is that going to be a problem at the school?"

Sam grimaced as she imagines the insanity of fandom high, school of the Living Dead.
